Check first your venting. If you want to be 100% accurate, try this, dry your next load with the vent off the back of dryer, making sure your at least 3 feet from the wall.If it heats any amount longer than you have mentioned ,well then, you have a clogged or bad vent .

Maytag gas dryer not heating

First make sure you have gas, then open lower section of this dryer you shoul see screws you will see a place to relight the pilot , if you smell gas before doing anything then stop your repair, see if the pilot is lit then push the red button and hold it relight pilot hold this button for a few min's after it relights, if it dosent relight check power goign to gas valve near pilot . Gas units have very little problems you may have just lost gas pressure and need to relight it , let me no ! what you see and we wuill go from there

Hi,
When the dryer wont heat it is the thermal fuse that is bad, you can test it with a voltmeter before replacing. This fuse is located inside the rear panel and it cannot be reset.

Hope this will help...

A very common problem in a non-heating gas dryer is what is called the gas coils, especially if it will light briefly and then go out and not relight. You should also check the igniter and make sure there are not cracks or burned places, also thermal fuse and thermostat could cause a no-heat.

Heats for a minute then stops is there thermal fuse

if it regularly lights and heats when you first fire it up, yet refuses to relight again the gas coils may be bad on the gas valve.
if it makes fire at all the thermal fuses, high limits, etc are good, but the gas coils can break down and refuse to fire when warmed up..
best of luck,

Maytag mdg6700aww gas dryer runs but heat kicks out after 5 min

You have bad coils on your main gas valve . They tend to short (open) after getting warm which cuts off the gas to the burner . After cooling , they will work again for another 5 min until shorting again . Replace the coils (2 in a kit ).
