I have a Kenwood ddx6019 with XM satellite radio. recently, I entered a manual channel change and lost all reception. A banner reads LOADING LOADING across the bottom of the screen. Any ideas on how to fix this?

SOURCE: XM radio sounds like crap!!!

I have my XM antenna on top of the cab immediately above my head and the Garmin inside the cab near the front speaker. So that would be another option in case you don't want to or don't have the cable to put one in the back. Have experienced no problems as of yet. Sound seems fine with my arrangement.

SOURCE: Kenwood DDX6019 no screen function

Grounding the wire out is probably not good enough unless this is an old model. The newer units require the parking brake lead from the head unit to be wired into a toggle switch. Take the lead wire it to one of the switch terminals, then wire the other terminal to the head unit ground wire. To make it work, simply toggle the switch twice-one up then down again. This imitates the parking brake being set. This is a dopey but effective illustration:

This should get your screen working without the parking brake on.

I am trying to add Sirius radio on my kenwood DNX572BH MODEL. SIRRUS IS TELLING ME I NEED A RADIO ID number. I cannot locate it since the device is installed

The Radio ID can be found by tuning the radio to channel 0. It is also on the Sirius XM Connect tuner and the packaging for the XM Connect. You can directly tune the radio to a channel by pressing the Up arrow on the control screen. Next look at the bottom left corner of the screen for an icon with 3 rows and columns. Touch this icon. Enter the channel you need and press Enter. See page 68 of the manual for the DNX572BH (page 69 of the PDF). This manual is available from the support page for the Receiver: http://www.kenwood.com/usa/car/navigation_multimedia/dnx572bh/support.html?model=DNX572BH . The direct link to the manual in English is http://manual.kenwood.com/files/IM386_Ref_K_En_01.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Charges and powers on okay. MP3 and display work,. satellite radio does not play . stuck on "loading.."

Leave your radio on for a while, it may be updating the channels. To force an update, press the "Left" arrow, and enter a channel number (it must be a channel that your are not subscribed to)

Try playing satellite radio while docking. If you were docked, try undocking it. Try a factory reset + erase and upgrade the software (XM's website). And, if none of that works then you will need to call XM for a replacement.

I don'tknow how to use the satellite radio...

Got this off the crutchfiel web site.

Item #700XMSON1 $129.98 This XM Direct 2 package includes everything you need to add XM Satellite Radio to your compatible Sony receiver: an XM Mini-Tuner, a CNP2000UC universal adapter, and a Sony connector cable. The Mini-Tuner connects to the universal adapter, then you use the connector cable to hook up the adapter to your Sony receiver.
Use your home computer to program the universal adapter for your Sony receiver — you can reprogram this adapter to work with another brand in the future. Once connected, you'll be able to change channels and see programming information on your stereo's display. You can also use the included XM Mini-Tuner with your XM-ready home receiver or in another vehicle with a compatible dock.
A computer running Windows XP and Internet Explorer is required. The unit is not compatible with Windows Vista.
Note: A subscription to XM is also required — learn about XM's programming. Satellite radio service is available only within Canada and the lower 48 states — not available in Hawaii or U.S. territories. Portable reception may vary by location. If you have questions about the proposed XM/SIRIUS merger, read the XM Customer Promise. To view this file, you will need the Adobe Acrobat PDF reader.

XM radio reception issues

If you have the magnetic antenna, check it for a little nick on the cable on the outside of the car where water might get in to it. A little water can short the ground and the antenna wire. You also can wash (with lots of water around where the antenna cable is) and see if it happens again, then you will know it not just the weather
