Re: cd player wont eject
You can try pressing the reset button on the display, it is a very small indented button that you need a paperclip or something smaill like that to press it. This is the only user action that can be done.
Do you hear the cd mech making any noise at all (gears trying to turn, motor running)? if not, you may have a supply voltage out for the cd mech, bad ribbon cable, defective loading motor, or one of several other possibilities.
If you hear something trying to happen, it will most likely be a jammed up mech. There is a plastic piece inside the mech that is very difficult to get to that may need to be replaced or at least re-aligned.
If you are not familiar with these type of mechs, you really should not try and fix it, you will most times cause more damage to it.
sorry there was not better news for you. let me know if resettng helps or if you feel you can fix it yourself, I would be glad to offer more help.

Assuming your deck is a kdc 516s the flexible cable that goes from the face to the main motherboard is probably bad. If you are not good at desoldering and soldering. , I would suggest you have it replaced by a professional.
remove the to of the unit, then the two in the
actual cd player, pull out cd player, there will be two more
screws, these hold the faceplate assembly in place, remove them. This
will allow you to pull a small plastic hook down to let the face plate
slide out. then remove the face plate from it's holder, slide it out.
Remove the four screws on the back of the faceplate inside the there is a
very small piece of plastic that has a hole at one end and squared at
the other. This is the problem causing piece. I suggest super gluing
this piece where it attaches to the inside of the faceplate. This should
fix the problem.

There is a small hole at the bottom of the stereo face that will reset the system. I pushed a pen tip into the hole and it turned the stereo off. When I removed the pen, the system turned on and the CD ejected. Problem solved.
Same problem, different rig. Bought a bronco with a Kenwood KDC 516s in it, Guy had put a new optima battery in it CODE_ _ _ _ appeared and he has no clue what the "code" is. I have no "remote" and no desire to buy a "remote" for a #$%@ car stereo. Is there any way for me to re-set the code w/out the expense of a remote or a fee from a tech?? the musically challenged, Brew
P.S. The owners manual under the "accessory" section mentions the KDC x617/v-6017 remotes but fails to mention a remote for the 516s??
