I haven't used the camer in awhile but My son was graduating High school today so I took it out and charged it. The camera was not working well. The zoom wouldn't work then it would. The flash would go off then it wouldn't.
When I got home I tried to down load the pictures but that wouldn't work. Then I heard a click and the screen went blank. I tried to shut the camera off and on but nothing would happen. Then a blue screen came up that has Bad data access address!!

The flash gun needs to have a high charge available before it can flash - this can take a few seconds to charge fully ready to give off a full flash "flash"
As batteries get older and uncharged - it takes longer to reach the correct charge on the flash
Hope that helps

May be you should prefer to use AC power adapter.
Because this model use much electric. HP know that and strongly recommends that you update the HP Photosmart R707 Digital Camera firmware.
You must know that this is normal for this model camera.
get the adapter plug it in,, in the camera that little hole next to the usb,,, just like u will charge the battery, then turn the camera on,, just your camera lens will be back to normal,, hope i helped ya out.
I found my answer to this on another board.
Remove the battery and SD card.
Use a paperclip to press in the small siver dot above the + sign for about 10 seconds.
This resets the firmware. It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you too.
