Question about Mintek DTV-263 26 in. LCD Television
Ryan, I understand you are the Mintek 26 LCD guru. I one with the common stuck in DVD problem. Does anyone know what has happened to the mainboard to cause this? Is it repairable? Any replacements out there? Thanks, MCA Torrance, CA USA
To my knowledge this is not an issue that can be fixed completely without obtaining a new motherboard/DVD player and replacing them altogether. Another member, Ori, posted that it might be possible to trace the handshake signal the built in DVD player uses to communicate with the TV's motherboard. The correct signal would "unfreeze" the motherboard allowing for a fully functional TV. Unfortunately I haven't the time or skill to do that.
As far as the availability of replacements, I have seen the whole sets go on ebay quite frequently, but they are usually ones that have this same problem. Apparently Mintek went bankrupt some time ago per what little information I was able to find out about them, so that cuts any hope of a new replacement as well.
