There are a lot of variables in that. Is your system having a specific problem? I do a lot of laptop repair, and its been my experience that most issues with laptops have to do with components /other/ than the motherboard. Please send me more info!

first you have to know what is goin on with your laptop, is it starting up to the bios? or continously restarting, or rebooting or totally not statring at all. please specify what exactly happened to your pc to be able to know what if your board is not working at all

Okay. somewhere on the back or side of your laptop should be a standard VGA connector. Plug a regular computer screen in to that connector, turn the screen on, and start up your laptop. On your laptop's keyboard, in the lower left hand corner, should be a Function key, probably labeled 'Fn'; On one of the number keys along the top of the keyboard should be the Display Toggle, a key with two computer screen icons. Hold the Function key, and press the Display Toggle key - This should switch between the laptop's LCD and the computer monitor. If nothing comes up on the monitor, make sure the monitor is connected and on, that the laptop is on, and press the two keys two or three more times.
If nothing displays on either screen, either you have a bad memory stick, a bad hard drive, or, at worst, a bad motherboard(cheapest repair being memory, most expensive is the motherboard.)
If there is no display on the laptop's LCD, but the regular computer monitor shows your normal startup/windows screens, that tells you that either the LCD Inverter board is bad, or the LCD itsself is bad.
Hope this helps ya!
