Question about Lanier Audio Players & Recorders
My Lanier dictation machine does not work through my phone line but when I take it to my sister's house, it works fine. I am a transcriptionist and when I dial in at my house, it connects, but the system thinks I'm a doctor and asks me for doctor/dictation information. When I dial in at my sister's house, it connects, and asks me for my transcriptionist ID # like it is supposed to.
Hope this helps. With station off, press *99. All programmed keys will begin to flash. Press the number 1 from the keypad. Flashing red lights will stop and a small screen will have a 19 or 20 or some other number in lower left hand side. Use left arrow key and move flashing cursor to the left. Using the keypad, change the 19 to a 20, press the enter key. Programmed keys will begin to flash again. Press the # key. Programmed keys will stop flashing and screen will read "station standing by". Station is not programmed as a transcribe station.

We use this equipment in remote locations and have found that the type of phone needs to be a centrex line, such as is used on a fax machine. Note: in the past, we used to have to use an "analog" phone line, which is just a normal phone line.
You probably have two different phone lines involved here.
