Question about Sceptre 17" LCD Monitor

X7G-Naga Sceptre 17" LCD Monitor

When mousing over the text on a screen (especially in Control Panel), the text I moved my mouse over will start disappearing, then I lose parts of the text, and sometimes it actually pushes all the text over to the left or right like someone inserted an invisible horizontal page break or something. And it also will display strange WingDing like characters in it's place. This is intermittent. Also, every time I try to troubleshoot it, the Help & Support Screen goes blank on the left side and I can't even get text to click on to be able to troubleshoot! Any suggestions? Another problem? The Control Panel does not have access to the Display icon??? Any suggestions for this?

Thank you kolington. I did hook the tower up to another monitor in my house while I troublshot a different problem for two days and the monitor problem was not repeated, which leads me to believe it isn't a problem within the operating system or the video card on the pc. But within 15 minutes of hooking the tower back up to the Sceptre monitor, it started doing the same thing again, although it took a little longer. Like maybe it has to do with the temperature of the monitor or something. Could it be possible I could download and reinstall the driver for the monitor, or does this now sound like a hardware problem with the monitor? Thank you for such a prompt and helpful response. donnarooty

Am using a standard power cord. Yes, I will hook up the monitor to this tower and see if the problem is recreated (in the morning before I go to work). I better get to sleep, or i'm never gonna make it to work tomorrow on time. If so, it is definitely the monitor. I don't believe I have ever had to change temperature settings on a monitor before. I don't have the manual either anymore. Where would I change monitor temperature settings? Is that through control panel? I don't recall ever seeing that anywhere in my troubleshooting travels. Again, thank you and I'll check my responses first thing in the morning. Have a nice night!

Try your monitor on a different computer and see if you get the same result, if not, there is a problem with your pc operating system and or video card. If you get the same result, get a new lcd if it is not under warranty.

Try to change the monitor temperature settings, it is set to normal, try cool or warm and see what happens. If you are using an ac adaptor instead of standard pc power cord, make sure it is not getting hot. If none of this works, you might want to think about replacing it since it is not cost efective to repair an lcd.

Cannot use the 5 push-bars on X7G-NagaV to reduce the pink (red in) the background. Do you have instructions for which button to push & the sequence? Thanks

Please check to make sure that the pins on both ends of the VGA cable are OK and seted properly on bothe ends.
There is no adjustment for color casting on the screen (redish, greenish, or bluish cast).
You may have problem in the monitor or the video card.

X7G shows video for 1 second then goes black, any replacement boards available?

Hate to tell you that replacing parts on a monitor would be very hard not only to find the parts but it would be very costly, I would recommend scrapping it and buy a 90$ refab off tiger direct or something, the only thing you can really fix on a monitor is perhaps a dead pixel, other than that its not worth it.

My problem sounds equivelant: The problem is that it will power down after 15 minutes, then take 1/2 hour or more to power back up!I believe I have solved my problem with my X7G! I remember seeing a direction on the only direction papaer I got with it that told me to Turn off ALL POWER SAVING WINDOWS SETTINGS! I think the monitor is set to care for all the monitor/power saving itself. I am going to try it and will get back to you, or just try it yourselfs!

Sceptre X20G Naga III showing horizontal and vertical lines

Yeah, there it... It's called a AD board. It that piece of component were you plugged your VGA or DVI cables to it. Panel scratchs repair kits, not recommended. Beside your panel could be already damaged by this problems you had. Replacing the AD board gonna cost you though...any where from $70.00 or more... My recommendation, just get a new one...saved you the headached and $$$.
Have a nice day!
