How do i use my canon powershot A460AiAf for video chat please tell me as i lost my original usb cable n bought new 1 that not responding is there any softwere dat can help me out to resolve this...

You can't use the A460 as a webcam. It was designed to store images (and videos) to memory, not to stream video live to another device.

You might want to consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

Can the Dimage Z10 be used as a webcam

Yes it can, most definitely. BUT do you really want to waste an expensive camera on something a proper Webcam can do?

Using your camera as a webcam is like using a Rolls Royce as a Pizza Delivery van, it does the job but it's a bit expensive.

Running your camera will obviously make it generate heat and heat over prolonged periods can affect fragile circuitry. Especially the CCD. Lost pixels is one problem and complete failure is another. I have a Z10 but it's been in a box downstairs for about 3 years. As I'm an invalid I can't get to it without getting someone to go searching (for hours)

Honestly, I'd rather advise you to buy a dedicated webcam which comes with the software required and runs out about $30.00 or less. OK the picture quality won't be as good as your Z10. Another problem is, where are you going to mount it? What software will you use to operate it as a webcam? and do you really want to tie up an expensive piece of equipment taking continuous pictures of yourself.?

If you insist on using the Z10 then you will have to check whatever software you use to chat on the Net has the ability to use a webcam. I know MSN does and just for test purposes I've used a digicam on MSN. I was told the received picture was good. If you intend actually talking as well then I'm not sure but I think you'll need a seperate mic as the internal camera mic is disabled except for movies. Sorry, I'm relying on memory here. I loaded my library of manuals but didn't find any mention of webcam use.
Try a shareware site for software to use for webcam and it should be a simple matter to plug your camera into the USB port using the supplied camera cable and switch your camera to, believe it or not, camera.
Simply getting your face on the screen isn't sufficient, it has to be shown within the webcam box.

So I'll advise against using the Z10 but if you must, you must. If you have any problems setting it up I'll get mine retrieved from downstairs and work it out for you.

My friend gave me digital webcam china made nothing is writen on it except digital i have no driver cd

Whithout knowing a brand or model name, it is impossible for anyone to tell you what driver to download.
The only thing that you could do, is to search google images for "webcam", and see if you can find one that looks just like yours. I have done this in the past to find drivers for no-name webcameras. Once you find a picture looking like your camera, click it to go to the page it's on, and try to find a brand name or model name of the camera. Once you find a model name or brand name, search google for the name + "driver download" and you should be able to find a driver for your camera.
The obvious solution is of course to ask your friend if he have the drivers, but I figure you already tried that.

Can i use Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S700 as webcam and how?

Yes you can use DCS-S700 sony cybershot as a webcam but you must first have the TV tuner card that accepts AV input from an RCA cable (red, yellow and white wire) which is free when you buy the camera (included in the BOX). Sets your TV tuning software (I've used "honestech" software) to receive Composite Input. After setting, close the TV tuning software. Then sets your messenger or any net conferencing software to accept the TV tuner card as your webcam.Yurika!!! It works for me and the videos are very clear. Except only that the focus box of the camera don't disappear.
Even I've used it to document my birthday party from morning to afternoon recording the video directly to my computer without any problem.

Oppss. Dont forget to rate me.

Webcam disconnected

Are you running windows? If so try "safely removing the hardware" by clicking on the green icon next to the time. After it says it is ok to remove it, unplug the webca and plug it back in.
If that does not work, go into control panel, system, hardware device manager and look under multimedia or scanners/camers for the webcam. Right click to disable. Then right click to enable again.
If it is still not working after that, I'd try removing the software you use and reinstalling.
