Make sure you are connected to the internet
Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Printers and Other Hardware --> System --> Hardware --> Device Manager --> Sound, video controllers --> look for the yellow exclamation mark by your audio bus --> right click and update driver - should grab automatically with XP

One addendum - you may have to uninstall the HD Audio bus that is one there before method will work, but try my method without uninstalling first.

This is very technical/extraneous, but included in this link is a description of why you experienced this problem when downgrading from Vista to XP with the HD Audio drivers:

Unfortunately, you will be disappointed by going to Toshiba's driver download site, since the specific driver you are requesting is not located there.

Go to Microsoft's own site, and try the hotfix/driver:

Audio & video is not working

You downgrade from Vista to XP right?

Installing your audio drivers on XP:- ***important
You have to install the "Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp33867)" first, before intalling the audio drivers Conexant CX20549-12 Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows XP (sp41836.exe).

If you reverse the procedure your audio won't work.

Hope it helps.

No Audio Sound RealTek Won,t Install?

Here is the driver link

1.For windows XP

http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/qg600audiox.exe

2.For windows vista

http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/driver_audio_sigmatel_25601A.exe

According to me, you are using windows xp as there won't be any problem with windows vista.

The sound card you are using is high definition audio.so you need to download Microsoft UAA Bus Controller Software.Install this first and installed the driver for windows xp.

here is the link for Microsoft UAA Bus Controller Software

This will solve it

Oh! Sorry.
Try to search for the XP Drivers for your Laptop or Return the OS to Windows Vista, some Toshiba Laptops does not have XP Drivers if downgraded from Vista to XP.

Need Drivers

Have you downloaded the Xp sofware update from the Compaq website? Maybe it contains the extra drivers?  If you know which audio chip(From manual, also downloadable for below) you could go to their website for the audio driver.
