Question about Washing Machines
We have a 5 year old Kenmore 22622 washer that has been making a loud knocking noise only at the end of the spin cycle (as it's spinning down). It is not unbalanced, and will also do this if no clothes are even in the washer. The washer works perfectly fine otherwise. It does not seem to be worsening either, as it's been doing this for at least a couple years now (always just meant to call someone to look at it, never have). Finally thought I'd just get this taken care of. Any ideas as to what this could be? My 5 year old top load Kenmore 80 model washer started knocking and vibrating and making a boatload of noise at the end of every spin cycle several months ago. I balance the loads and I've checked it and it's level, both side to side and front to back. It makes the noise whether its full or empty, and it still works, but I fear it will self destruct each time I run a load of laundry. My dilemma now is "Do I... 1) pay the $65 plus whatever it costs the repairman to fix it, 2) do the special deal thing for $215 where they fix it and guarantee it for a year, 3) kick it to the curb and buy a new one or 4) hope that someone out there has had the exact same problem and has actually fixed it? If I had a better idea of whether it was going to cost $30 in parts or $300 in parts, I'd have a better chance of making a good choice. Can anybody help???
Have you checked the wire harness ,because the tapping of just 2 wires hitting the cabinet is overlooked alot. The noise just 2 wires makes simulates a hammer knocking inside. If the problem isn't escalating than check to see if your tub support arms are all tight. There are 12 of them.
