SOURCE: Slight water leak from plastic drain fitting on

If it is leaking out of the valve spout itself I would just get a garden hose end cap and screw that on the drain threads..These are available at nost hardware stores.
If it is leaking around where drain valve is threaded into tank then turn control knob on gas valve to pilot and shut off water supply to water heater,Drain tank. You will want to open a faucet on the hot side closest to water heater to help tank drain faster. By opening the faucet you stop it from drawing a vacumn on tank and slowing drainage time.Drain tank to a safe locatio and then remove drain valve from tank. Get a 3/4 inch F.I.P. boiler drain and a 3/4 x 2 brass nipple and a roll of teflon pipe tape.Wrap male thread on brass nipple with teflon tape and install in water heater drain hole. Tighten hand tight then use pipe wrench or channel lock pliers to tighten two more turns. Good luck.Thank you P.S. Shut off faucet and fill water heater and check for leaks,

SOURCE: I have a Rheem Fury

Sound slike the top element is gone bad and the bottom one is the only one working. Best bet to change out both elements while you have to replace one anyway , turn power off, drain water out and change out. Once you are done open a faucet to get air out of lines when you turn water back on, Once air is out of lines you now can turn power back on.

Can i use a thermal blanket for my Rheem Glasfury 82v40-2 hot water heater

Modern water heaters are well insulated to the point that adding additional insulation is not beneficial. Some units may also suffer from a blanket blocking air vents or causing condensation build up.

How to take off the thermal couple off a ge sg40t12txk

1) Copy following links:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-thermocouple.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-repair-Rheem-TRD.html

2) GE is made by Rheem, so air intake screen is located below the combustion burner, as is the TRD (thermal reset device).

3) Modern gas water heaters, the FVIR, or FV system will trip when air intake gets clogged with dust.
This will slow venting of hot combustion gasses, except burner is still burning same amount of fuel. Overheating occurs, and that trips FV system.
Other brands require cleaning air intake screen and possible replacement of gas control valve, or FV sensor, etc. Each model is different.
Rheem_GE overheating will trip TRD, and glass vial breaks, causing air intake to close. Glass vial must be replaced, and possibly the gas control valve replaced.

Put in gas valve, a few days later sensor set lock out due to flamible sensor setting off. what are the codes to unlock system?

Air intake is probably clogged, so combustion air flow slowed and caused overheating inside combustion chamber.
This tripped FV system and broke TRD, which is a small glass vial located under burner. The spring-activated air baffle snapped closed and shut off air supply, and also tripped FV lockout of gas control.
Remove burner, replace glass vial ordered from Richmond, and clean air intake.

If you have Intellivent gas control, then it can be reset.
Copy following link to identify gas control valve, and download possible service manual:

Can't locate the year of manufacture of my Rheem Fury Model 29-40S-2

Generally the year of manufacture for Rheem is 3rd and 4th digit of serial number. 06 is 2006, 92 is 1992 etc.
Older gas water heaters are better than new ones, and easier to keep repaired and maintained.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-maintain-water-heater.html
Regardless of age, the key factor is whether tank is rusted, or rusting.
Open drain valve and check if water is rusted.

I have a Rheem glas fury model 22-40 gas water - leaking

Dear Hank McNeal; I have successfully used a "boiler plug" to seal a water heater tank leak in 2007. It was a 100 gallon electric commercial hotel unit. To this day it's still in use. It depends where the leak is located....Predrilling the leak is necessary to be sure the plug will ernguage it's threads into good material... Start as small as possible, then use the best suited plug. they come in an assortment of sizes. rheem-glas-fury-model-22-40-gas-water-qbzdprdp3yetvbzozs4dsujq-4-0.jpg
