I need to hook my external hardrive up to my Mac and seem to have misplaced my manual. I need specifics on which cables I need to hook up, etc. Is there information online and/or a picture of this so I can see the configurations? If not can you give me specific information so I hook it up correctly? Thank you for any help!

In general, external disk-drives have one USB cable, running from the unit to any USB port on your computer. The smaller external enclosures have a "laptop" disk-drive inside, which draws electrical power through the USB cable. The larger external enclosures have a "desktop" disk-drive inside, and requires an external AC 110V adapter, which connects to a power-jack on the enclosure.

My hardrive is plugged into my mac, the light is on, the hardrive is spinning, but no icon shows up on my desktop. I've searched my computer, and the icon isn't anywhere. I don't know how to access it...

An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.

You need to change the refresh rate, some monitors operate on 60 Hertz, and others on 70 or 72 Hertz, try changing the refresh next to the resolution choices.

A Hard disk making noise, does not sound too good. if it was waorking before on both PC's & not having issues then it has to be with the unit. try on a nother computer. if its the same thing i suggest you look for that warranty card of yours.

Dvd/vcr player is hooked up but not playing...

Yes. You definitely need to set your TV on a specific channel - GAME, in your case. Check your TV manual how to get to that GAME channel.
