Try to see if you moniter is in the correct spot. I one time moved to a different house and when I put my computer together I pluged the moniter into the onboard video slot instead of my vid card slot and I couldt figure out for the longest time why it wouldnt work. Tech support couldnt help me...lol. Sometimes its the easiet thing that makes the biggest problems.

If its not that then you may want to call tech support in your owners manual.

If I understand your issue, it sounds like the display works fine until it loads Windows, and then it has the error? It sounds to me like the video card drivers are crashing. This may be the case if you have recently updated them, or installed a new video card. I would recommend getting the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website on a CD, SD card, or USB drive, and then boot your computer in safe mode. Once in safe mode, install the new drivers, and see if that will help. You could also try using your onboard (integrated) video card if your motherboard has one. This could help rule out if the monitor is at fault. Just make sure your BIOS has the integrated card as a secondary video device if it the (I'm assuming PCIex16) peripheral card isn't found.

Hi Larry,

I see that you are having issues with you LCD monitor intermittently showing Video for a few seconds then just dies to a black screen and will show windows in the desktop then go back to a black screen again on the issue ...

I believe that what you are experiencing on the issue is a screen refresh rate setting in windows.

we will need to check you video settings on the system for the issue.

Before we go and change some settings on your system we will need to boot into safe mode first.

1. From Shut down as soon as you turn your system on keep on tapping the F8 key on-top of your keyboard, this will give you the Windows Advance Options Menu.

2. On the List Select Safemode once highlighted press enter once, a bunch o things will show up on the screen this means that windows is loading in Safemode and windows will be loaded but all drivers will not so may encounter a screen that has big Icons and letters on it which is normal.

3. Log-in you windows profile if you have a password setup, once logged in do the following instructions below.

Changing the Screen Refresh rate:

1. Right Click on your Desktop/wallpaper to get the pop up options menu, click on personalize.

2. In the personalize window click on display lower left side of the window

3. Then Upper Left side of the new window click on Change Display setting then on the next page lower right side you will see Advance settings click on it.

4. you will get a small window click on the monitor TAB you will see there a drop down for the Screen Refresh rate click on the drop down and select 59 Hrtz, then Click on Apply then OK to save the settings work on your monitor.

Ok try this, at boot up press F8, when the Menu comes up, choose Safe Mode, but this time instead of going to the desktop, choose System Restore, follow instructions, and when the Calender type window comes up, simply choose a time BEFORE, the time it went faulty. This should completely restore you to working again. As long as there are NO other problems.

Monitor not coming on

Please check the connectors at the back of your monitor. Try to pull it out and put it back in on both ends. Make sure that the data cable is properly connected. Or, Try another monitor and connect it to the computer. If it doesn't work, consider the video card is at fault. If it does, then the monitor needs to be replaced.

-Orange light on Power-up button stays lit. -No Video, just black screen. using AGP Video card TNT 32mb / Model CT5823 I've replaced the battery, double checked the cables, Power supply is good. Gatew

This is typical of a failed power supply. Look on the back of the power supply, there may be a red switch for input voltage. Unplug the power cord, flip that switch a few times and then plug the cable in and try again. If nothing changes, see if there's a small black button on the back of the power supply. If there is, unplug the power cable and press the button and hold it for 10-15 seconds. If an LED flashes or turns on, then plug the cable back in and try again. If this all fails, replace the power supply.

Video problem on my Dell Dimension 4600 PC, HELP ASAP.

the resolution set by default when you load your graphics driver is outside the range of your monitors capability.

try starting in safe mode then adjust your resolution to 640 by 480 then restart.
if this works, adjust upwards to 1024 by 768
then up again till the screen blanks.
when it does, dont panic, wait 20 seconds and the settings will restore - you then have the optimum settings for your monitor.

good luck

Samsung SyncMaster 204bw....keeps going black every now and then with the power light flashing, i don't understand what is wrong with it :S please help?? i have to restart my system everytime...

Similar problem with Samsung Syncmaster T260 at 1920x1200 on HIS Radeon X1950XTX video card. Black horizontal stripes lasting 1/60th of a second or so every few seconds, then black screen for 2 seconds, then fine again.

I Set the catalyst control center control panel for the graphics card to Alternate DVI operational mode under the Digital panel attributes item. Setting the screen to 1600x1200 also seems to stop it doing this. BUT...it didn't used to do it. Bought it in November, and it didn't start doing this until late January. Go figure.
