Dryer won't turn on. Set the timer, push the button and nothing happens. The timer winds down, there is a slight click when you push the start button, but then nothing

Check your door switch and wires to see if they are damaged first. You may have a bad Start Switch. If it is a 2 wire switch you can tape them together and then plug in dryer ,if it starts, replace the Start switch. Please Rate this!

Electric dryer no start does nothing

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage.

CHECK THERMAL SHUT OFF THERMOSTAT USUALLY LOCATED ON THE BLOWER. for OHMS or resistance with a meter. Should show a closed circuit. Ohms WHEN THIS FUSE BLOWS IT WILL SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING.

NEXT Test the PUSH start switch with meter for OHMS. Should show OHMS when pushed in or on start, and no ohms or infinity when in off position.

If you hear a humming/clicking sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.
Try this test out to see if u have weak windings or relay/capacitor on motor.
Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings

Another thing to check is the belt safety switch. With a multi meter.
Especially if u just replaced the belt. The belt safety switch is attached to the Tensioner and motor. IT LOOKS LIKE A DOOR SWITCH SOMEWHAT a little black pc of plastic with 2 prongs going into it. Sits at bottom of motor. Under the Tensioner. Attach meter clips to the 2 prongs on switch, Then when the little white push button is pressed in it should show continuity and none when released.

Lastly check ur DOOR SWITCH for continuity with a meter when the button is pushed in the (on/Door closed position,) it may have gone bad.

Drum will not spin

While most Samsung dryer component failures will generate a trouble message on the display, a failure of the hi-limit thermal protector won't. If the hi-limit thermal protector has opened, it directly interrupts power to the drum motor. As a result, you can start a cycle using the buttons, the 'brain' will turn on the relays controlling the motor ( the faint clicking sound ) and run the cycle timer, but the motor can't actually run. And without drum rotation being sensed, the burner won't turn on either.
Solution is to replace the hi-limit thermal cutout, which is located on the 'nose' of the blower assembly next to the dryer temperature control thermistor ( which is slightly larger than the hi-limit thermal cutout ).
Also note that the usual cause of a hi-limit thermal cutout failure ( or a thermistor failure ) is ducts restricted by lint ... both the burner exhaust duct as well as the blower intake duct. Both should be disassembled and thoroughly cleaned while you have the dryer apart.

When I push the start button, nothing happens. There is a clicking sound within the timer. Previously to this it would shut down in mid dry.

Dryer Won't Start

Make sure it has power. Then:Check the door switch. A little lever sticking down through top right of door opening. If it is not there you will need new door switch(sometimes the little lever breaks off). If it is there and does not click when you press it in you need a new door switch. if it clicks when you close the door then you have a bad thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is found by taking the back of the dryer off. The fuse is an oblong white plastic piece with 2 wires attached.

Dryer doesn't start or blow air, how can I test parts to determine what needs replaced?

Hi there

Have a look around the motor for a yellow or silver tube like object with wires attached to one end .

if you see one of these "be very Carefull if you are not confident working around live electricity get a man in to do it"

start the dryer and then physically give the drum a push if it starts to spin what you require will be the start capacitor plenty of places online to buy spare from and easy to fit.

When you push start button, it makes noise but won't start.

This is a A.C. hum that you are hearing. this is a warning sign. You are experiencing motor failure. the actual windings inside of the motor are losing their potential to hold an even current due to breakage. the shutdown is a safety feature built in the control panel to prevent electrical spark/fire.

Wont start

try turning the drum by hand...is it jammed? if not, then: the motor will not turn due to a number of reasons: 1.) simply burned out copper windings 2.) switch not turning on motor or not turning on motor starting circuit-depending on design ...if jammed, then try to find the interference to turning
