The fan on my opti myst does not start immediately on switch on but about 10 seconds or so after. It is then on continuously. When the water tank runs dry it should auto switch off with a warning beep.
Maryanne, the first thing to try is turning the Master ON/OFF switch to OFF. Unplug the unit and allow it to remain unplugged for 10 - 12 minutes. Generally, that's enough time for the unit to reset itself. Plug the unit back in and turn on the Mater On/OFF switch and then proceed as you normally do.
If that solves the problem great! If it becomes a recurring problem, turn the fireplace off, unplug it and call Dimplex USA Technical Service 888-346-7539.

Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the fireplace from the wall receptacle and leave unplugged for 10 - 15 minutes. This will give it time t reset itself. In the future, if you finding you're have to do this more often. Unplug the fireplace, stop using it and call Dimplex USA Technical Service 888-346-7539 for further instructions.
I have the same problem with 3 of the 5 EPX1000s I have fitted in my flat, although mine don't even warm up. They just immediately turn themselves off. My only conclusion is that they are rubbish. Specifically, the so-called overheat protection doesn't work. Avoid.
