Every time i try to turn on my laptop the light only comes on and go out and when it do comes on the harddrive light dont comes on and the screen blank and it only comes on for a minet or two

It ISN'T the LCD screen. Since you diagnosed with an external VGA monitor, you now know the problem is the laptop.

(When you connect an external VGA monitor to a laptop, you are bypassing the Video Cable, and LCD screen. You are connected directly to the laptop )

The basic Windows files aren't being found. The boot files. This may mean a bad Harddrive.

Do you have the Restoration CD Disk? Laptop on insert it into the optical drive tray, close the tray.
When asked choose - Repair. (Non-Destructive Installation)

If a checkdisk is done, you have bad sectors on the harddrive.
There IS a special procedure in replacing a harddrive.

Your screen may have gone out - try hooking up an external monitor with a VGA input. Connect it to the VGA output of the laptop. If you get a display, your screen inverter or backlight has gone out. If the hard drive light on the control panel is flashing then the harddrive is likely ok.

Unseat and reseat the memory one stick at a time in each slot on at a time. After each reseat of the memory, turn on the laptop and see if you get video. If you still don't get video, go ahead and take out the hard drive and the dvd drive.

Then try turning on the laptop, if you still don't get video then the motherboard is bad and you'll need to get it replaced.

Could also be that you have a clogged fan/heatsink and overheating, triggering the thermal controller

The E86 error code is a hard drive error, remove your harddrive and try powering up. If it works without it, try reformating the xbox 360 harddrive.
THIS WILL DELETE EVERYTHING:
Settings > System Info and press Y, Up (left stick), Down (left stick), X, A.

If that does not work you may need to purchase a new harddrive, you can get them online, or in most stores. 

I would remove harddrive and sead it better if not you may have a problem with intergrated power connector.It will apear to work but will not good luck

Try reseating the RAM modules. If that doesn't work test the RAM in another laptop. If nothing works chances are you have a faulty motherboard.

Gateway was working good went upstairs came back NOTHING BLACK SCREEN....

My gateway screen was constently black every time I powered on nothing no bios, nostart up no warning..The board has indicating lights to follow the start up power light on, battery light on, then the disk drive....but thats it normaly the harddrive reader light comes on but nothing.... So detached every component and tested individually..... come to find out one of my 2 ram slots is damaged not the chips...this could be your problem..try

sounds like its trying to load windows but the harddrive is failing to respond, most of the time if it loads everything up to the windows itself its all done before initalizing the harddrive itself.. try putting the harddrive into another computer or usb external to check if its dead.. you might just need a new one =T not 100% sure though but its worth trying.

what model ur laptop
