Dimension E310 Microphone

Hello..
I have a Dell Computer with a Dimension E310 tower. I do not see there is a microphone input. Am I missing something or does this not come with a microphone input? I have an assignment that requires me to download PureVoice and record an audio discussion, but I am not sure if I have a built in microphone on my computer. Can you help?

Microphone will not hook into computer

What is on each end of the microphone cable in its original form? What's the model of microphone? You need a cable that ultimately (probably need an adapter or two) would have the LO-Z (assuming its a low impedence mic) connector for the microphone on one end and the mini phone plug on the other. If the microphone is low impedance, which most good microphones would be, you will need an impedance matching transformer to convert to high impedance which the computer mic input would expect. That would have a 1/4 inch phone plug output which then needs to be brought down in size to fit the computer mic input. A music store would be your best bet for the required pieces.

Hello,

Have you checked if the option for the Microphone is selected? Go to the Sound settings and then click Option/s. Make sure Microphone or Mic is selected.

Thanks!

Switched from a g4 PowerPC to a g5 Intel Imac and now Mic has a lot of digital hiss

the Samson C01U picks up the noises running inside the computer, or laptop whichever you have. You can't change that. But if you want to get rid of it. I use Cool Edit Pro. There's this effect we have for Noise Reduction. I won't go further on unless you have this program, or something similar. But basically it takes out any unwanted static

which program are you useing?

its possible your mic is on mute so no sound gets throught.
check the speaker icon next to your clock

then press settings and properties and click on regording. then ok. then make sure the microphone is not muted and the sound level is high enought.
