I have had 4 of these ipods, all because they keep breaking. i keep trading broken ones in again. i don't know why. all the broken ipods exhibit the same "symptoms." they stop playing songs and videos, but you can still maneuver around the screens, using the buttons and wheel. none of the games are playable, and, if the ipod is reset (a difficult task with this kind), it dies. black screen, no responses, no revival. is it me, or a faulty product? what do i do?
The screens work but no music plays

Re: ipod nano not playing songs, and dying
A couple possibilities:
The songs that you have loaded onto the IPod may have fixed-term or limited licenses - if you don't resync to your music svc every 30 days or let your subscription lapse, they become unplayable over time.
This would not explain the games, however. On every Windows-based computer, the iPod can play in 2 modes - msd or mtp mode. If you alternate between these two modes, certain file types become hidden to the player itself, and thus become unusable. I can tell you how to resolve this, but it takes a lot of time, effort, and space: write me back, and let me know if you want me to tell you more.
What type of computer do you have, and what type of OS are you using? Windows XP? Macintosh? Windows Vista?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
