Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

Very Slow internet. I used to use the D-Link DI-704P router for a cable internet connection. I have moved houses and I am now using ADSL2 . I would like to know how to configure the router to suit ADSL2 , I believe it automatically adapted to the cable internet connection initially and it is not compatible with my ADSL connection.

I would go to the manufacturers website. I had a linkysys router that was hard as hell to use with my dsl connection. CAble worked fine. There is a great program called Cablenut that you can download for free that will adjust your registry settings which may be your problem in the first place. Make sure you restart.

How do I make my Compaq SR1520NX wireless?

Well, you can always use the new tecnology and connect you ethernet via your power-line in your house/appartment.
http://reviews.cnet.com/adapters-nics/panasonic-hd-plc-ethernet/4505-3380_7-31940393.html

Follow that link and read about it, i link you to the panasonic test results, but there are many many more manufacteres out there.
Its verry verry easy to use, its not expensive, and you wont need any separate cables.

Good luck to you

I have a d-link router di-524 how do i set security to control or stop others using it to connect to the internet

>connect to the router using an Ethernet cable (looks like a phone cord but fatter, router configuration is not recommended via wireless connection)

>click start -> run then type in the box that pops up "cmd" without the quotes and hit OK

>black box (command prompt) on screen, type "ipconfig" again without the quotes.

>look for the Default Gateway address (that's the router) and type that exact address in Internet Explorer.

>now you'll have the router's configuration page, look for Wireless then the Security option will be presented to you.

>self explanatory setup. good luck

I am replacing BT 105 modem with a Belkin adsl2 modem with wireless g router. The 105 has a blue cable with a square connector. I tried to put the yellow supplied cable in the back of my computer but it...

no, but you need to configure the router to connect to the internet, you should have a "quick start guide" that will help you connect to your router and set your ADSL dial settings (as it needs this to connect you to your internet service)

once these connection settings are set you should be able to connect to the internet

you can then explore the other settings including the wireless configuration of your router

I have my router wireles d-link but i dont have a cd for instal the software i want a software for configure my router d-link DI-524

Hello ,
Actually you do not need a software to configure it. Connect it to your PC with network cable and type in Internet Explorer : 192.168.0.1
And by entering ADMIN user with default (should be ADMIN as well) password you should come to setup page of your router.

For more details pls refer to :

D-link di-524up configuring router with bigpond

Hello cook_ka

You can find information about and downloads for your "DI-524UP 54 Mbps Wireless Broadband Router Plus Print Server" HERE on D-Link's Australia & New Zealand regional web site.

You can find its product manual HERE. Please, download this manual. (You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or another PDF file reader in order to open the file.)

In order to access the router and get it configured initially, connect a computer to any one of the router LAN ports (NOT the WAN port) using an Ethernet patch cable.

The instructions for configuring your router begin on page 8 of the product manual.

This router has a configuration wizard as well. Instructions for using the configuration wizard begin on page 10 of the manual.

NOTE-1: The default IP address of your router is 192.168.0.1

NOTE-2: Don't try to access the router wirelessly until you have the router configured and your connection to the Internet working (using a "wired" connection from your computer to the router).

NOTE-3: I assume that, since your ISP is BigPond, that your Internet access connection is ADSL. In that case, you are going to need your ADSL login credentials (primary account user name and password) in order to configure the WAN side of your router settings.

Please, let us know if this information was helpful to you or, of course, if you have any further questions.

D-link router DI524 using next G external wireless modem

You can purchase a usb wireless dongle and attach to the PC. From then onwards you can set up a wireless network without connecting the usb cable for the router. The dongle will enable wireless capabilities on the pc. The only thing left is to have all devices running in the same workgroup.
