Hissing Noise I am hearing a hissing noise coming out of my speakers when I shut off my TV.  I have to lower the speaker volume on the DVD remote to avoid the hiss. Any clues?

This is a common problem and all you really can do is to turn the speakers off when you are not using them which is also good for your energy bill!!!

Sir if you're using VLC player or any player that goes beyond the limitation of volume of the computers then don't use it.

Hissing noise coming from all speakers when 5.1 system is on, does not increase with volume

Is it DANGEROUSLY LOUD hissing, like undecoded digital data?

Maybe you have a DTS source coming in on analog cables or your unnamed HTS can't deal with it or whatever digital bitstream you're feeding it.

Read the manual.

HOW DO YOU TURN DOWN THE HISSING NOISE

You can cut the treble gain some BUT most importantly is to send adequate signal to this speaker so volume level does not have to be set high when sending LINE LEVEL signals to it. Hissing noise is a product of the statistical noise that occurs in electronics. Running any device at high gain invariably brings up the hiss level. Managing thee signal levels is the responsibility of the sound engineer.

ALSO feed ALL interconnected equipment from the same receptacle or power source, even if it means running a power cable to a mixer alongside the snake. ALWAYS USE BALANCED audio cables whenever possible.

I stopped having sound coming from the speakers. I checked and we are not on mute, and the volume is turned up high.

Make sure all your connections are tight and you have power to your speakers...Then go Start>Control Panel>Sound and Hardware>Sound, after you are in here make sure that your speakers are selected as default device.
Hope this helps, pls rate

Speakers have hissing noise coming out of them

Hook a graphic equalizer between the piano and speakers, and turn down all sliders above 8 kHz. Since the highest note of a piano is 4186 Hz (4.186 kHz), you'll still hear all the notes but cut the hiss. If the hiss is coming from the speaker's power amplifier (in which case the equalizer won't help), turn down the speaker volume and turn up the piano volume. Live instruments generally need some doctoring to sound good through high-quality stereo equipment, as they only produce a limited range of frequencies whereas good speakers reproduce a lot more - including hiss.

Logitech x530 hissing noise

I had the same problem for the longest time with my set of Logitech 540 5.1 speakers. Turns out the solution was pretty simple. All I did was open the Master Volume controller and mute the Microphone. Hissing went to zero. Sound is great now.
