Tip

No audio even though sterio wires are all connected

My 1997 Alpine CDE-7828's wiring schematic doesn't disclose one important thing for many older and possibly even some newer sterios (aka 'head units'). If all wires are connected per the sterio's schematic andf sound is missing, you probably have a dedicated pin on yout vehicle's harness/connector that will read something like 'Turn-on AMP signal", <br />until you jumper the ignition hot lead (between the harness plug and your sterio) to your vehicle's 'Turn-on AMP signal' pin/connector wire (add a wire if none is supplied in your vehicle's connector), you won't get any sound even though all the other wires are connected per your head unit''s instructions.

My head unit has permeant live, i have tried swapping red and yellow around its know of red on red and yellow on red... i have to remove cover and disconnected ipod any help

well it depends on the car, if its a sunfire, theres a yellow wire that connects to the red wire that connects to the sterio, that yellow wire goes to fuse box maybe the power is constint the only way to fix that is to hock the red on sterio to an ignition source,

I disconnected my car battery on my nissan serena and the car radio has locked and i have lost the code

if it has the original stereo then you can contact your dealer and they will help you, if its aftermarket then you must call the company that made the stereo.

Got second hand radio for my car its a clarion CY460 for nissan almera hooked it up and displays please wait... after waiting for a moment it says SECURE can anyone give me help or advise on what to do....

Unfortunately, this unit has a code which you need to input before it will work, But you may have to go too Clarions support website and ask for this code, or maybe your local garage can help, but i think the charge for this code will be around £40.
Just check around the unit as sometimes it is stuck to it.

Wiring colours

Not sure of your setup re hedunit.
the plug from the old sterio should have the following:
Black- Earth
Red - ignition (only supplies 12v when key is in the ACC position.
Yellow green (12v all the time) even if key is in the off position)
you can check the speakers by using a 9v battery and QUICKLEY toutching the wires on the terminals to distinguish what two wires run to what speaker.
Then use the same sequance for wiring the headunit making sure thar all the solid colour wires are used as the positave connection for the individual speaker wires.

Very loud odd noise coming from radio speaker

There might be 2 probs
  1. The wires soldered to the the CD/FM input/output wires might have come loose leading to short/sparks causing the loud sound(constant).
  2. If there are any sockets requiring plug-in they may require cleaning with pure alcohol or rectified spirit(unlikely).
  3. The wire leads going to the speakers may be partially loose........................sodeep

Panasonic cd player not working when pressing the cd button on 98 jeep grand chrokee

check fuses

since you have a jeep thinking you go off road maybe hit couple bumps and jared something loose in the back of sterio system this is what i would check first

after that it might be that the sterio's face plate is not makeing connection right to base sterio

Swapping out a factory radio in a 2005 ford taurus

I don't know about the air bag but you need a special fit kit and wiring harness due to the climate controls being built in with the radio as one unit. The new kit separates the climate controls from the radio, and leaves a hole for the radio of your choice to fit into. These kits are expensive and I suggest you try to get one from ebay. Sorry, thats the downside of a Taurus.
