File system error 65535

I would suggest you to run a SFC scan on the computer.
1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. The access the drive by typing command for example - if you are facing trouble in C drive type C:

2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
sfc /scannow
The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

Hello,
The file or folder could get corrupted due to improper turning off the PC like abrupt power cut
without an UPS backup and various other reasons.Unfortunately there is no guaranteed way to fix the
corrupted file/folder,but there are few things you could try that fixes the issue sometimes.

1) You can ask windows to check for errors and fix them. This may fixe the corrupted files or folders in some cases.Follow the steps below to run the error checking process.
  1. Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check.
  2. Click Properties, and then click Tools.
  3. Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed,
  4. Use one of the following procedures:
    • To run Chkdsk in read-only mode, click Start.
    • To repair errors without scanning the volume for bad sectors, select the Automatically fix file system errors check box, and then click Start.
    • To repair errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box, and then click Start.
Note If one or more of the files on the hard disk are open, you will receive the following message: The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer? Click Yes to schedule the disk check, and then restart your computer to start the disk check.
Like I said there is no guarantee this would fix the issue but its worth the try.The only way to keep the folders or files safe is to make backup copies on another hard drive or CD/DVD.Do let me know if it helped.

Thanks for using Fixya!

My external harddisk - WD 320G(my passport essential) can not recoginze on Window 7. Please help to slove.

First check physical connections of hard disk to your cpu. Check in 'device manager' disk drives tab. If its found check in "disk management" in that drive which file system its showing. If it shows raw partition mean your file system is corrupted. It requires remove that partition and create a new partition.

for open device manager : start > run > devmgmt.msc
for disk management : start > run > diskmgmt.msc

I unplugged my g tech without ejecting now says files are corrupt

Hello

Plug the unit back in and try running some repair utilities on it.

Assuming the device is seen as the E: Drive (if not, adjust the directions accordingly)

Open a Command Shell (Go to Start then Run. Type in "cmd" then click OK for XP / Vista type in "cmd" in the Search area)

Once the Command Shell (black box with text only), type the following:

chkdsk e: /r/f

This runs the Check Disk utility on the E: Drive and will locate bad sectors (/r) and fix any errors (/f).

With any luck, only the files that were open when you disconnected your G Tech will be corrupted and all others will be salvaged.

Hard disk acess problem

Hi, What the message mean is that Windows can not read/understand the filing system (something like the Table of Contents in a book) and therefore do not which and where are your files in the 80Gb. A few things you can try: 1. Run Windows Scandisdk on the Hitachi 80Gb; 2. Run any third party disk check/utility such Norton Disk Doctor. Alternately, you can use a file recovery software (such as GetDataBack) to recover/copy all your important files from the 80Gb and transfer them to another mass storage device. Thereafter, you can re-partition and re-format the said Hitachi to start new/fresh/clean. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turnes up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

Corrupted disk

When a disk says its corrupted or unreadable it can ne 2 things 1.) The disk is physically faulty. or 2.) The file system is corrupted. Well check to se if its the file system by doing this: 1.) Go to Start->Run 2.)Type cmd and press enter 3.) (with the drive plugged in)Type chkdsk f: /f /r and press enter It should attempt to check the file system and fix problems if it can. If the utility doesn't start at all or stops half way and says it cannot continue then the problem might be with the drive itself. In that case you might need to acquire sofware to retrieve the data. GetBack Data NTFS works pretty good. If that is the case, You can always take it to a data recovery expert if the data is very important. And if the problem is with the drive, i would really consider getting another one! Good Luck Regards, Armando
