With your help in getting the service manual I was able to get in the service mode on the tv and correct the green alignment in more detail then the remote allows you. The money spent for the manual was nothing. I will definitely recommend you to other FixYa Friends. Can't thank you enough.

I suspect that you may be using a cable or sat box rather than that set's internal atsc tuner. Sometimes these boxes are not set up properly or reset themselves to a lower resolution. Go into your box's settings menu nd look for the resolution settings. Verify that all of the modes or at least the maximum resolution for your set is enabled.
You need the service manual to navigate through the service functions. I not trying to sell you anything but I know from experience. The manual is not expensive and I will attach the link were I got mine. You can get the entire service manual emailed to you from the following link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/ Guru Slinteriors helped me with mine and a great source of knowledge.
you can get a service manual for your set at this link I posted its listed under zenith projection tv R45w46 for $15.99 they e-mail it to you right after purchase and sign you up for free online tech support http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
To answer your second question. You have to be careful. Make sure you write down all current settings so you dont mess the Television set up worse. The code is the following.
Accessing the Service Menu w/ Remote:
in the setup icon, set anntenna to cable
in timer icon, set sleep to 30
exit menus & tune to ch. 124
adjust volume to -0-
press volume down on the set panel & red "CHK" appears onscreen
use tv/video button to change video inputs
use POWER button on remote to toggle menus
navigate service menu with up & down, L&R and action button
images are tall & skinny. you must adjust the vertical size & position in the NTSC mode, as these are global.
Then set the horizontal size & position for each mode(NTSC, 525p & HDTV).
TIP: Use a dvd that has an aspect ratio of 1.85:1 (I used Starship Troopers) and make it just fit. Don't squeeze too much vertical as the AA9a60 may have some tearing on the top of the picture....this means you will have to cheat and increase horizontal size, cropping some info off the sides.
Try using ch.199 & the HBO logo to adjust...the "O" in HBO should be perfectly round (HTPC owners can use VE DVD and the ANAMORPHIC test pattern: title 20 chapter 5 I think). Now you will find your geometry is bowed & convergence is out of whack.
First do a STatic adjustment, then do a DYNamic adjustment.
#7 button-save data...do this often as the set sometimes shuts down in the middle of your work!
mute button: cursor data..push to adjust current position.
swap button- confirm
For your final question You should have( 2) STK392-110 convergence ICs in that model. Thats probaly your problem. I would recomend changing them out before adjusting any setting via the service mode. Thes ICs are available from http://electronix.com/ for 5.99 each. Hope this helps let me know if I can be of any further help.
You should have purchaced the service manual before you went into the sevice mode, as the service mode is a dangerous place to be if you do not know anything about it. You can get the service manual from www.servicemanuals.net for about 20 bucks or so. A lot less expensive then a serviuce call I would think.
