Since I do not have the amp opened up on the test bench and connected to be able to take readings, I can only speculate.

It is obvious by your description that the amp is going in to protection mode. It is possible that the total impedance is too low, or that the amp is being over driven.

If there is some distortion occuring especialy at a high level, the amp should go in to protection mode. It is also possible to have some defective components that are making the amp too sensitive to go in to protection mode. I have also seen defective components intermaly in amplifier units that have caused the power supply to go in to the protect mode.

I have seen defective crossovers in speaker units also cause an amplifier to go in to protection, or even be damaged. If the crossover has the type of defect that is causing an impedance missmatch or be in a low resistance, this can cause the amplifier to go in to protection.

You will need an experienced tech who knows the model of amp very well, has the instruments, and has the service mauals in order to be able to go through it to find the exact fault.

Considering the circumstances, this is the best I can do for you.

Hi i got two speakers clarion xw 1500 ,i`m looking for amplifier good quality and strong enought can supply power for two subwoofer speakers same time, please help me tomargos3@op.pl

The Clarion sub woofers that you have are 600 WATT RMS each, with a combined power handeling of 1200 WATT RMS. Your best option is buying a 1 ch Amplifier (monoblock) Anything in the region of 1000 to 1500 RMS will be more than enough. Brands that you should look at MTX, Phoenix Gold, Soundstream, MA Audio, Kicker, Hifonics, MB Quartz these are but few of the good quality brands out there in the mid to high end range.
If you are on a tight budget then a good alterrnative without a lot of compromise on quality versus cost then Quantum Audio, Crunch Audio, Kenwood will still do the job just fine.

If you are not restricted by budget. Zapco, Mcintosh, DLS and others are up there in the creme de la creme of car audio.
Another brand name that i have used that is not very well know (as far as i know) is Elemental Designs. They have a great monoblock amplifier that delivers all its power at 12V as oposed to most other brands needing 13.8V (V=Volts) and over, it is also suprisingly inexpensive for its quality.

I hope this helps you in the right direction.
Respectfully

I have a 2channell FE-402 fusion amp, with a fusion sub,and a set of vibe k-series 69's that have a max power of 525 watts. I tryed wiring the sub with the speakers and the speakers sound fine but the sub...

Hello jackstephens,

It's an either/or situation. The FE-402 can be set up to drive normal speakers in stereo, OR drive a sub when both channels are bridged. When the LP filter is on, it benefits the sub at the expense of the normal speakers. And with the filter off, the subs get the full range of frequencies and try as best they can to reproduce them. You might try running it with the LP on, in stereo with the 6X9's paralleled to one channel (2ohm load), and the sub connected to the other channel (?ohm load).

But my recommendation would be to use the Fusion amp the drive the 6X9's and get a dedicated monoblock for the sub.

Hope this helps.

ok i have the same amp and 1 2ohm dvc sub and was woundering the same thing but from futher research and askin sum xsperts. What i found out is that it is only one channel and even tho there are 2 (+) and 2(-) they actually connect inside the amp makein it one . so if u wanted to wire sumthing parralel u wouldnt have to hook wires from one coil to the other on the speaker , u can just hook it up to the amp. so basically both +'s and negatives on the amp are actually one within it so all the power if you only use one set of them and if u wanna add more subs its just easier to add to the amp by using the xtras .

The amp says it's 1 ohm stable, so assuming the DVCs are dual 4 ohm, you should be able to connect all "+"'s together and all "-"s together, like the picture below:
0f1cebe.jpg

As for the amp shutting off for a few seconds, it sounds like it's either:
A) Not getting enough power at high volume.
OR
B) Overheating.

The cap on the +12V to the amp should help, but putting a meter on the +12V might tell you whether it's dropping too low (<11V).

When you first turn the volume up, how long does it work fine before shutting off? Is it with the vehicle running or not?
