My ps3 slim won't play games and blue ray disk but I can still play eve movies on it, please help want to try an fix if before nhl 12 hits the stores.

Hi, It sounds like there's an error with the laser that reads blu ray media as PS3 games and blu ray movies are both stored on blu ray disks which is read by a different type of laser then a dvd is read by. There's nothing you could do to fix that on your own, the only fix I've heard of is sending it in to Sony.

I put a scratched video game into my ps2 slim and it kept on reading the disc but the game never started it just kept on reading the disk.at the same time my ps2 is making a clicking sound.how can i fix...

Undortunately, if the disk is scratched, there is not much you can do, other than buy a new disk. Lots of video game/DVD rental stores have disk repair machines, so you could try and take your disk there to see if that helps.

Playstation slim version is making a clicking sound and saying disk read error

The clicking sound is from the laser lens trying to focus the reflection from the disk after it shines a laser beam to the disk surface - it can't focus so the lens is hitting the disk. It's not suppose to do that if the reflection is received properly. Cause - probably a dirty lens or a bad laser pick-up transducer.

Playstation 3 (PS3) Console: my ps3 slim wont read any disks...

Hi,

This is a very common problem with the PS3 and is caused by a problem with the laser on the Bluray drive which is malfunctioning and can no longer 'see' or read the game disk properly.

The PS3 uses a dual laser system. This consists of either a dual refractor type lens or two entirely seperate lenses depending on which pickup is fitted to your particular system. One laser is for reading ordinary DVD disks and PS2 disks and the other for Bluray and PS3 games.

The symptoms you describe are quite typical of a failure of one or both of these lasers.

For more information on how to resolve the problem please have a look at this FixYa Tip on the subject.

Many thanks for using FixYa

Broken PSP

when you say scanner do you mean laser that reads the umd?

you could replace the laser from one off ebay
but the thing with replacing lasers is that adjusting the laser so it reads the disk it tricky

here is a shop that repairs lasers in psps
http://www.ipaqrepair.co.uk/ipaqpart1418.html

or if you want to do it your self
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-PSP-2000-Slim-Original-UMD-Laser-Lens-Repair-Parts_W0QQitemZ290386195846QQcategoryZ127746QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BIEW%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D11%26ps%3D63

also you say it is 1 year old from brand new? bought from the shops
call sony as it may just be under warenty

Game not working ps2 slim

did you try cleaning the laser lens? q-tip + small amount of rubbing alcohol, then use other end of q-tip to dry it. or you could use a laser lens cleaner for video game systems. hope this helps :D

Slim ps2 disk read error

I don't want to put you down or nothing but, buying the slim ps2 wasn't a great idea. If you bought the original ps2 it would've been better. The thing about the thin ps2 is the hd is small, the laser tends to become weaker faster. Go get the ps2 checked out someplace.

Disk wont spin

First of all the new laser lens will not allow your Slim to read NTSC UC games if you have a PAL european Console.

There is no reason the New laser should have not read the disc unless it Came to you damaged. It sounds like you know how to replace a laser.

New game won't play.

the problem with god of war 2 is the ps2 lasers are not capable of reading the dual layer disks. either wait and get a ps3, change the laser - i just bought on for 3 quid on e bay brand new. the lasers are not designed to be played the amount they are played. the laser is designed to play 20 hours a week but as sony found out he avg gamer will clock up up tp 60 hours a week so the lasers are only lasting 1/3rd of the time they should. plus if they put a good laser in the machine u would one buy 1 ps2 and then 1 ps3. i have burned out 3 ps2's so far lol. just forget the game or wait till its put on platinum as these are single layerd disk
