My outside AC unit was working just fine. The only problem I had was the air would stop blowing from my vents after running it for a while. I called a tech to see if he could tell me what the problem was, and he said my a-coils were probably freezing up and it needed freon. I looked and sure enough, there was frost on the pipes. They came out and charged the unit and the air was blowing much better from the vents. Around midnight, the outside AC unit quit working. I called him the next day and he said it must have blown a fuse. I told him I may need him to come back out to see why it was doing that. When I got home, I saw it had tripped the breaker, but when I reset it, it made an awful noise. I called him and got a recording, and he has never returned my call. I had an electrician come out and he said it was my unit, not my breakers. I called another hvac tech and he said my compressor went to ground(?) or something like that, and it was probably due to reon getting on the wires. The capacitor was just laying on the ground inside the unit.

Needless to say, I was fuming because I feel they were the cause of it going to ****, he wouldn't answer my calls or call me back, I can't afford a whole new unit, AND it's HOT!!!

Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Are you able to see ice on the unit anywhere inside the home or outside at the condenser?

Most likely a older unit. Unit must of had a small leak somewhere and he added freon. That caused the compressor to draw more power or current which caused the breaker to trip. Could have a dirty condenser coil or fan running slow causing higher current draw. His gauges show show what system is doing.

I agree with there is a load issue...To much freon in line will cause the noise and also not enough oil in freon...The more harder that compressor works the higher you electric bill. If you dont know what your doing call someone.

RUUD AC cycles warm & cold 24/7

Hello Anna Sounds like the compressor is overheating and stoping on overload internally. Then it cools down restarts and runs into overload again.I would like to see the freon pressures when running.Could have a clog/restriction in piping.I dont like that you went thru a compressor already, the original installition is suspect. The original (1st) failure cause must be corrected.Check the TXV valve replace, filter/dryer look for a kinked pipe are ideas for overheating.Make sure condenser coil is free (ari flow)& clean also.

Central heat does not blow hot air, just warm air weakly

Sounds like some of the elements are not working. You being in Florida they may not have put very many elements in. It was 61 degrees last week. I know because I'm a Dolphin Fan. You will need a current sensing meter to check the elements.

AC BLOWS WARM AIR

Cooling comes from what is done outside, if air handler is blowing and you are hearing a sound , may be in the duct work. If you feel warm air in cooling mode then the outside unit is the prob, need more info

Ac fan not turning on I can ''stick start it'' but which direction?

The condensor fan should be sucking air from the top and blowing it through the coils, probably a counter clockwise direction. The buzzing/humming sound is confusing to me. A humming sound sounds like a motor that can not turn over to start. A starting capacity would be needed. Just because you changed it out last year does not mean it is good. A buzzing sound sounds like a contactor problem. Contactors buzz and after a while, they will fail. In any case, you can "stick start" the condensor fan PROVIDED you are sure the ac compressor is working (this is for a short and temporary use). Also, you may have a high load duty capacitor that assists in the unit running. This will affect your condensor fan operation if it is not good. Unless you know all the components and operations of ac electrical, I would highly recommend calling out a professional.

Outside Unit blowing air but not cooling and slight buzzing sound

The compressor is not coming on and some part of that unit has failed. Do you hear any clicking sounds along with the buzzing sound? Recommend that you shut the unit down (remove power from it) until a service tech can listen to it try to start up.

The power company-installed load management system is probably a red hearing. That system will either fully turn off the unit or allow it to turn on/start up.

Central air conditoner unit doesnt blow cool air into home has some ice on the inlet heat and cooling lines going into the central air unit

Change the furnace filter. Make sure you use a cheap one when air conditioning, as the better ones restrict airflow when they filter out so much stuff and then plug up, not allowing enough air to pass over the cooling coil in the furnace's air plenum. Turn the A/C off for a few hours (with only the furnace fan on if possible) to melt the ice off the cooling unit inside the furnace.

There's a buzzing sound coming from my central air conditioner unit outside. The fan is quiet but I hear a buzzing sound. Should that be happening? Sounds like there's something loose.

Things that are not broken: The big relay that powers the compressor often hums or buzzes when the unit is running. Several brands of heat pumps keep their reversing valve "on" any time the thermostat is set for "cool". They buzz, too.

If something really is loose, the only way to fix it is to look at the machine and take off panels until you find what is buzzing.
