Question about Toshiba 40H80 40" Rear Projection Television

Open Question

Toshiba 40PW03B Tv has a fault where as when you turn it on it gives 3 green LED blinks followed by 29 green LED blinks then just blinks continuously. What diagnostic code is this and what does it identify as being the problem? Does anyone have a Service manual please. These are the symptoms after finding that a T (time lapse) 4amp 250V fuse had blown and a diode on the cct protection ring had blown/broke off from the stem so the fuse was replaced and the diode stem re-soldered. I do intend on replacing the diode as this could be suspect! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank-you. Please advise if any further information/details or inspection of the boards is needed.

The Diode (1N4148) is on the protection circuit and has now been replaced by a new one but the above symptoms still persist!

Would really like a list of error codes even if for another Toshiba rear projection TV.

Having now removed 6 x 1.8 ohm 2W +/-5% resistors on the V and H ccts for each of the RGB guns I do get a picture for at least a brief few seconds before the Protection Cct shuts down the TV, all three colours are showing though they are out of sync (not aligned) as one would expect.
When tested the resistors are all giving a reading of 2.3 ohms, is this within the tolerance or should they be replaced? Not so easy to come by in the UK, if at all as I am still trying to find a source.
Under these conditions the fault code is 2 green LED blinks followed by 30 green LED blinks.

SOURCE: Toshiba 57H81 Flashing Red Power Light, Blown Fused F850+F852

Solved by resoldering some solder joints!!!!!!!
********
Toshiba Model 57H81 Rear Projection TV - Purchased 11-09-2001

Problem: Toshiba 57H81 Flashing Red Power Light, No Picture/Sound, Blown Fuses F850 + F852

Symptoms January, 2009:

  • Upon turning on set I got flashing red power light and nothing else.
  • Removing plug for one minute and plugging in results in:
    • Audible click, steady red power light for 2 seconds then slow flashing red light
    • Pushing power button results in steady red for about 2 seconds then slow flashing red light, no other set activity
  • Removing power cord for several hours and plugging back in made no change
    • Audible click, steady red for about 2 seconds then slow flashing red light
  • Possible related note: Over past several months occasionally the entire screen would flicker momentarily and at other times be problem free for weeks.
  • Fuses F850 and F852 found blown

Repairs Made:
  • PD0074 DEF/CON Power Board
    • There are two main power supply capacitors in this set. They are C-809 and C-810. One their negative lead on the printed circuit board re-soldered leads and nearby contacts. I’m told that because the factory left out a printed circuit board eyelet, the connection will come loose over time. When I called Toshiba customer service they said there was a known solder joint problem causing blinking red light.
    • Replaced blown fuses F850 and F852.
      • I actually installed a fuse panel on the inside of the cabinet and routed the fuse connections here instead of ordering the special fuses and replacing them on the circuit board.
      • Had to use a 5 Amp SLO-BLOW for F850. Fast blow does not survive power up. Get the red blinking light.
      • Used a fast blow 2 Amp for F852.
  • PD0073 SIGNAL Board
    • Re-soldered Q751 + Q752 STK392-110 Convergence Amps
    • Re-soldered adjacent pads that looks suspicious

Total Cost to Repair about $10
  • Twelve hours of my time over three days to research issue, disassemble set, make repairs, add fuse panel.
  • Already owned Service Manual and Circuit diagrams from a different 2004 repair.
  • Less than ten dollars at Radio Shack for fuses and fuse panel. Already had wires, etc.
  • Some solder. Already owned de-soldering tools, etc.
  • Visited both local authorized Toshiba factory service repair facilities. One said repair would have to include replacing Q751 + Q752 STK392-110 Convergence Amps with ST392-180, and realigning set for a total of $500+ and it would be more if they had to order a power board. NO THANK YOU! Other shop said $65 for site visit and $30 to make an estimate that could be applied to repair.

Hello, I have Toshiba TV Model #47L7500U. When I turn it on the TOSHIBA (red) logo comes on for a several seconds, then screen goes black. Green LED on front continually flashes green. No pic or sound

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Can you give me the codes for a Toshiba television set using One for all universal remote URC-3021BG1

To control a Toshiba TV with a One for All URC-3021, follow these steps:

1) Turn on your TV.

2) On the remote, press the TV key once.

3) Press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice, then release SET.

4) Enter the first four-digit code from the following list:

0154, 0156, 0060, 1356, 1656, 1704, 0650

The LED will blink twice.
If it does not blink twice, go back to step 2 and try the same code again.

5) Aim the remote at the TV and press POWER.
The device should turn off.
If it does not turn off, repeat steps 2 through 5 with the next code in the list.

Hope that helps.
