I think it is the hard drive. Can anyone tell me how to replace the drive?

- Computer wont boot and hard drive is not recognized in the cmos. detailed drive replacement instructions would be helpful rather than having to take everything apart. Thank you.

- Thank you for your help.
However I found the answer prior to your response. On a Toshiba Satellite A65-S126 Notebook, there is a single screw on the right hand side under the vents on the compartment that houses the hard disk.
The manufacturer's specks claimed one screw removal for the HD; that is the only compartment with one screw on that model.
Locating the HHD in Toshiba will be the most difficult. They have put them in several different places in the machine over the years. First try any access panels on the machine (look for a small rectangle shaped panel aprox. 1x3, probably on the side), then check under the keyboard, on a couple of models they put them under the touch pad. It should be in a HHD caddy, that will slide out. The caddy will have at least one screw holding it and there will be two or four screws holding the HHD in the caddy. Also check to see if there is a connector on the end of the HHD, you'll need that. Once you've found it, put the new HHD back in the same as the old one and you there.
