Ya linksys sucks because it has a hardware firewall. Go on to that and disable the hardware firewall. You can type 192.168.1.1 into the internet address bar.

Make sure you have a software firewall such as avg which is a great free one.

Cannot connect to the internet with pc, can connect with my laptop wireless. using windows vista but niether internet explorer or mozilla firefox can connect.

First check your network adapter settings )make sure that it is set to 'obtain ip address automatically'). In network and sharing center, make sure that you are not using a public network. Also, in control panel, internet options on the connections tab, make sure that use a proxy server is not checked in LAN Settings.

Hi,
Are you using Internet Explorer? You can go to Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Reset. Do this to reset your IE. Restart your computer to make sure. Hope this help. Otherways, download firefox and use it to see where is problem. If firefox can use, that mean your internet, your modem router, your firewall setting is normal, just Internet Explorer has problem. Remove Internet Explorer and reinstall it. Thanks for reading

I have a problem installing the router, it cant connect the internet connection. what should i do? i think theres a problem in my edimax unit.

Try this;
1. Reset the router,
2. insert the utp cable from your pc to LAN1 port of your router
3. to access the router, in your internet explorer URL type http:\\192.168.0.1 (if this is the default IP of router)
4. once connected, check if the default username is admin
5. at setup wizard using LAN, use dynamic connectivity then save.

Internet explorer keeps telling me cannot display webpage

First check whether you are connected to the internet through a proxy or directly. Then check internet option connection lan setting option maybe those should be kept to automatic or point to the right server. Then in the internet explorer go to the internet option , advanced and click reset button that should do the trick. Also if this doesnot work download firefox and install it. when you can see pages in firefox that means everything is okay and it is problem with the browser. replace your browser with new ie8 and thats all

We had a storm and since then I cant connect to the internet...the connection's good but I cant connect (tried IE and firefox-neither worked)

You should try unplugging your router and cable / dsl modem for a few minutes, then reboot your computer.

That's the first and easiest way of fixing it.

I dont know what my wep is for my wireless router

it may be on a label on the bottom of the router!
if not, try connecting via the network cable and put the ip (usually on bottom of router eg 192.168.1.1) address of your router in the address bar of your browser (internet explorer/firefox/safari,etc) and checking in the wireless settings for the wep key--you may need password to access router, but you can google exact details if you get an ethernet connection first

Dell will not connect with internet

Using another PC, download MEMTST86 from memtst86.com follow directions to burn it to a CD. Run overnight in your Dell. If you have two memory modules, try removing one then the other and see if the problem goes away. Sounds like a hardware problem.

Desktop problem

try downloading and installing firefox web brwoser, then use this instead of internet explorer... you may just have a bug in your internet explorer and it is so much easier to use firefox than to try and repair a faulty internet explorer.

go here for firefox :

AOL broadband connection

The answer is very simple ... Uninstall the AOL browser, you do not need it to connect to the internet, AOL's browser, as I have discovered chokes your bandwidth and slows down your PC. I would strongly recommend using something like Firefox (you can add the AOL toolbar if needed). I removed AOL's browser over a year ago and have not had a single problem, bespite the fact that AOL insist I must have it installed on my PC ... Absolute rubbish.

I had he same problem connecting to the internet after downloading the updates for Windows XP. It turn out to be that the surcurity downloads are to harsh for some anti virius programmes, and I was told to uninstall my free version of Zone Alarm and try to connect to the internet again. This I did do and was able to connect to internet again. I have since re-installed the Zone Alarm programme and I am able to use the internet once again with the above working.

I hope this help's you.
