There are a few things that could have caused this:

If the connections for the top and bottom screen are not completely in or slightly wrong then the DS will flash and not turn on.

The second and worse thing that could have happened is you have blown the fuse. Yes supposedly DS's have fuses! I put the battery in the wrong way round when I had one of mine apart and it stopped working. After asking on a few forums I think I blew the fuse. People say they have fixed it with a bit of soldering. I'm not sure how to solve this problem but I'll have a look for you if this is what you have done.

Hope this helps,

Mowcius

You might have loosened a wire. Either take the ds apart and reconnect it yourself or send it in to nintendo for service.

Flashing bottom screen (Nintendo DS Lite)

You need to check the top screen ribbon is fully inserted into to place on the board. A green light and flash of the screen within a second means ribbon not connecting right

NINTENDO DS LITE WON'T CHARGE OR POWER ON

Each time you charge your battery, the charge capacity is decreased. After a large amount of charges, the capacity is decreased to an amount only enough to turn on a/the screen(s) for a second. Try getting a new battery.

My Nintendo DS won't stay on.

try charging it, or if that doesnt work, the battery might be in incorrectly, or one of the battery pins is broken or bent.if the battery is in incorrectly try putting it in again.if one of the pins is bent try carefully bending it back.if one is bro0ken,you might consider a new DS.there could also be forien material in thew battery compartment, in which case you would extract.if none of these solutions work,it might either be the battery(in which case you would buy a new one)or an intenal problem (which would lead me to consider a new DS)

Nintendo ds

Most likley, you did not correctly seat the ribbon cable for one of the screens into it's connector.

Did the unit function correctly before?
Did you change the case because the previous one broke?

Nintendo DS Lite won't turn on

My kids did the same thing. What I did to get it to work was to push back on the top and hold it turn it on. If it comes on then turns off after you let it go get 2 rubber bands and put the 1st. one on the top left down to the bottom right. The 2nd. one goes from the top right right to the bottom left. Then keep turning it on while moving the top to find the sweet spot.

Will not power up after changing the case

I found this on ebay after a lot of searching forums and other sites, and it worked for me!

"If you are one of the unlucky ones, LIKE me, you may find after taking it apart, and then putting it all back into the new case, that when you power up, bottom screen flashes, and nothing... DONT panic.. I did.. tried looking for help on the web and couldnt find any. It just means you, like me havent pushed one of the Ribbon cables fully in... took me a while to work it out, just unclip the ribbon cable again, and with both fingers gently push it all the way in, you will feel it slide into the socket more than it did before. "

Good luck Duca
