I have successfully converted my video file into a manageable format using Prism video converter. It is very simple.
1. Download and install Prism Video Converter, open the program
2. Plug your camera into the computer
3. Open My Computer and open the drive for the camera
4. Select the movie file from the folder
5. Drag it into the field in Prism
6. Convert to AVI or MP4
7. Use something as cheap as windows moviemaker or any other movie editing/authoring software of your choice. I only cared about splitting my long movies into smaller clips to post on YouTube. I dont need Final Cut Pro or anything.
This has worked for me because I no longer have my ImageMixer3 either.
I called Hitachi at 1-888-814-9697 and Ordered the Original Software for $8.00

yes i have same problem and cannot get imagemixer3 anywhere to download . i was told to to try cyberlink or pinnacle but i didnt know how to work them as i am a novice .will appreciate any ideas thanks mabel

I had same problem the other person was exactly right call and order it direct from hitachi. It was $8.00 plus $3.95 shipping. They also say you can go to hitachionlinestore.com but I could not find it. Thanks so much for the info - had looked on line several times with no results.
I have the sampe problem, On my vista PC it doesnt even recognize it on the USB :( please help as i am a student and have just recored all my project work on this and need to hand it in asap
