Windows sleep mode problems

Sleep mode on a Windows 7 PC saves power without you having to turn your computer off and without losing any work. This option cuts the power to your monitor, powers down the hard drive and pauses all functions until you awaken the computer from hibernation. Whether you have a laptop, desktop or workstation, putting your computer into sleep mode will lower your electric bill and save money! Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your desktop. In the lower right corner of the Start menu, next to the "Shut Down" button, is a button labeled with a small, right-pointing arrow. Mouse over the arrow. The Shut Down menu appears. Point at "Sleep" and click on this option. Your Windows 7 computer goes into sleep mode. Wake your computer from sleep mode by jiggling the mouse. There may be a delay of a few seconds before your hardware powers on. All of your open programs are still open and your work is intact, just as you left it before the computer entered sleep mode. Configure your Windows 7 PC to go into sleep mode automatically when it is not used for a certain amount of time. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." Click "System and Security." Click "Power Options." A menu opens. Click on "Choose when the computer sleeps" and select the number of minutes of inactivity. You can also set a separate time interval to put your monitor into sleep mode. If you set both to 10 minutes, then your PC and monitor will automatically go into sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity

Inspiron 530 desktop--- computer boots up, runs just fine for a while, then monitor displays gabled multi-colored patterns, then evetually shuts down.

What is shutting down, the monitor or the computer. Check the power light on each for proper diagnosis. You either have a bad monitor, a bad video display card or a bad PC, specifically a power supply or motherboard. This is a classic symptom of something getting too hot and shutting down. One way to test the monitor is to plug it into something else for an a period of time and test. If you're PC is shutting off, try unplugging unnecessary peripherals, i.e. CD/DVD drives, floppy drives, external USB peripherals, etc. Start with just the video adapter, keyboard, mouse and monitor. Let us know what is shutting off, for further diagnosis.

Problem for Sony SDM-HS75/B (Black) 17" LCD Monitor Menu buttons don't work but menu randomly appears

Try this:

Under the menu options, there's Menu Lock. Switch it to "On". It worked for me.
My menu button wasn't working, so to access the menu, I had to hold down the arrow up button and push the arrow down button till I got to the Menu Lock Option.

My monotor its all black but u can

This should be an (LCD) screen. They are the ones that usually have this kind of problem. You will need to take it to have it checked if the problem is the VGA signal cable leading to the monitor. They will check if it is properly connected or has gone bad. It is very unlikely that the screen is bad. When this VGA signal cable goes bad it could result in a totally blank screen.

Monitor won't stay on

Your computer may be in screen saver mode, it has instructed the monitor to go to power saving mode, or the the monitor's video cable is not properly connected to the computer. Another possible cause of this is a locked-up or in-operative computer since the computer is what supplies the monitor with all the display data or information. Move the mouse or press a key to de-activate the screen saver or power saving mode. Check the monitor's video cable and make sure it is snugly connected to the computer. To see if the computer is operating properly, press the CAPS LOCK key on the keyboard repeatedly while checking the CAPS LOCK light. If the light is not turning ON & OFF, the computer is non-functional. Contact your computer manufacturer for help.

ViewSonic Monitor has trouble to wake up after been shut down?

Ok sounds to me like a power supply problem.. this a a fairly common symptom. I suggest that as a temporary fix you set the monitor to NOT turn the power off to the monitor in sleep mode if possible, in your power settings for the monitor.
