Green horizontal lines on display

First thing to try is another HDMI cable and see if this fixes the problem. Seen a bad cables way too many times...

Second: update your videocard to the latest drivers:
You can find the correct drivers @ AMD support. Click the link and choose the correct settings. Then click display results. Download & install.

Third thing you could try is another monitor. Even a new monitor can be broken. Not uncommon. If another monitor has a good image then return your new one and let them give you a good one

Good luck!

Car won't crank

No parts are ever replaced to resolve any vehicle issues

You have to proper test any vehicle systems that apear
to have a problem

Once all the answers are present, only then do parts get
installed if necessary

Things such as fuses & relays only fail here on these web site
blogs, for the most parts, way too much silly talk about nothing

Need to have the car at a repair shop that actually can diagnose

From what I see on this site from people asking questions,
that appears to be an issue also, finding a half decent shop
these days

1993 gmc 1500 350cid - engine turns over but will not start. Fuel is good

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
If it's not turning over then the problem will be on the firing. If there's no current to the plugs, the engine won't fire up. Few things to look at to resolve the issue... First, the ignition coil can be faulty. Second, The ignition switch can be faulty. Third will be the starter. If it's faulty, it won't kick the flywheel. One good reason why it won't turn over.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

The engine stops after 2 or more hours of operation

Hi and welcome to FixYa!
Two things that can result the vehicle to stall. A faulty fuel pump and a faulty coil pack. If the fuel pump is faulty it tends to have fuel supply irregularities, one good reason why the vehicle stalls. A faulty coil pack can make the vehicle stall too, it tends not to give current to the plugs and will surely require replacement to resolve the problem.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

1997 outback wont start but turns over just fine. timing belt is fine as well as timing. almost starts when cold. compression is also fine. has spark.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Looks like that you have a faulty fuel pump. If the fuel pump is faulty it won't supply fuel to the engine which may cause it not to start though you have a good spark. I strongly suggest that you have the fuel pump replaced to resolve the problem.

Hope you find this information helpful enough and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Wont start

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Few things to check to resolve the starting issue.

- Make sure that the battery is fully charge
- Check the fuel level if you have gas
- If it's not cranking then it can be the starter solenoid
- If it's cranking but won't start then it can be the fuel pump not getting fuel from the tank to engine

These are the few things to look at and hopefully it resolves it. Have a good one and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

While driving all of a sudden my 1999 ford expedition started making this flapping noise coming from the engine. What could this be? Can I drive it to a repair shop?

It could be a number of things, but I'm going to go with what may be the most obvious (and least expensive) problem, which is the serpentine belt that drives the fan, alternator, water pump, power steering pump, etc. Open the hood and look at your belt(s) and look for any obvious breaks or tears, separation, or other damage or obstructions. If it is a belt giving out and separating, you may be able to cut off the part that is "flapping" against the inside of the engine compartment, and make it to a parts store. I hope this helps, and good luck. :)

Will not start only backfires and start dieseling.5.7 automatic. hear fuel pump running. ran fine last trip and parked overnight. few times in past week or two. little trouble starting. rough idle for few...

You need 3 things.
Good hot blue spark to all plugs.
Good gasoline and proper fuel pressure. 63-64 lbs.
If you have all 3 then move on to injector pulse to all injectors.
I think each injector is on a separate driver on that one.
Check for pulse to all of them.

You may be weak on fuel pressure . Even a couple of lbs low on a cold start will cause a no start. Double check cold start cranking fuel pressure. If under 63-62 lbs you have test is to give it a squirt of carb cleaner not starting fluid. If you get a intake or engine full of starting fluid it can blow things. Carb cleaner will start it if it is a fuel problem and lot safer. Also in the good old days when i was a kid, i used to get a couple of cans of starting fluid and get in the back and have a good starting fluid spraying contest. Good for a big blast if someone lights a match. If it starts then you have a fuel pressure problem. Run the full fuel pressure test and post back pressures.

Here is the guide lines on testing.
Hard to start cold.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel. Do not leave home without it.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak.

The 75-85 is only a check on the capable full pressure of fuel pump.
If you can not find the rubber return line check full pressure by plugging return line or just or the true full pressure can be taken direct at the end fuel filter.
What are the pressure readings that you have done.
What are your cold start pressure readings?

1996 chevy tahoe 4wd LT 4Door 5.7L Vortec. Truck will not start, the starter grinds VERY loudly. Replaced starter several times, battery is good, replaced crank position sensor. Possible pre ignition? ...

i suggest removing the flywheel inspection cover, and rolling the engine over a little bit at a time, checking to make sure that there are no worn or broken teeth. also, make sure there is no lateral movement, which could indicate a broken flexplate. good luck.
