Sorry so late getting back. I took it to circuit city amd told them to register it forme or take it back. I was frustrated after 3 hours trying. They had the same problem ast first but did get it refgistered. They said somthing about a x something that had poped up in the menu bar had to be deleted. He said I was not the only one not to get a CD but that they could get me a copy if I needed it.

Do other USB devices work on the same port? Try a thumb drive or some other simple USB device that doesn't require seperate drivers.

I have seen the USB root hub drivers on computers get fudged up. In that case go to Device Manager by going to "Control Panel", find and double click on "System" then go to the "HardWare" tab then click on "Device Manager". Delete everything under USB and reboot your computer, all the USB hardware will be redetected when you reboot and your GPS might work.

You can also try your GPS on another computer to confirm that it works and to confirm that there might be a problem with your USB ports.

You problem may be a compatibility issue with Vista. I will do some research and get back to you.

Make sure you are using the USB driver here: http://www8.garmin.com/software/USBDrive...

Garmin added Vista support in version 2.2. The lastest is 2.21.

Also make sure that all the MapSource Trip and Waypoint Manager are installed on your computer before plugging in the unit.

You may also benefit from updating the unit's software itself, download it here: http://www8.garmin.com/software/GPSMAP60...

Those two programs are on the CD that came with your GPS unit.

Yes, you should have gotten a CD with the unit.

Install the drivers before you plug in the GPS. Then follow the directions both in the setup and on the website. There may be other things that you need to update before things will work right.
