Question about Nikon Coolpix 4600 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Missing pictures I recently went on a trip and took some pictures that disappeared from my camera. Later I started getting the message 'Card cannot be read' so I purchased another memory card. I was taking pictures when I get the message 'Card cannot be read'. I turned it off and back on and the missing pictures were there. I then get the message 'Out of memory'. I turn the camera off and back on and the missing pictures are gone again. WHERE ARE THEY???

Hey flowernthe,
The error message “card cannot be read" means there was and error when the camera tried to access the memory card. To fix this you should make sure you are using the right kind of memory card, which for this kind of camera is a SD card, and it does not support SDHc cards. Since this camera uses SD cards I would make sure the slider on the side of the card is not set to the locked position. If this doesn't help I would make sure the memory card connecters are clean, and if they're not you can use a rubber eraser to clean them up. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Is it possible to recover missing pictures?

I don't think those picture can be recovered as those might have stored in the temporary memory for a while and every time he took another pic it might have over-written in the previous one..

Better remove the Micro SD card and try to connect to PC and check if its available in the card

M110 Samsung Digital Camera on holiday partner decides to press copy to card countdown started previous pictures disappeared can I get these precious holiday snaps back.

On most cameras, copy to card signals the camera to copy the internal memory pics to the memory card. The missing pics should now be on your memory card.

I took lovelly photos on a recent trip, yet when I went to download the photos to my laptop there were NOT on the memory card. I have not accidently deleted all the photos as there are some old photos on...

SLR's don't have hard drives. Buy an inexpensive card reader to download your pictures to a folder you create on your desktop. See if that works.

Photos keep disappearing from memory card

Go buy a cheap card reader that you put your photo card into and connect to your computer. You can get tham fairly cheap. $10 to $20 or even less.

M512 MB card dosen't work

I bought a 256MB card a few years back and had the same problem. I had to upgrade the camera's firmware to version 1.77. I went to Fuji's site under archived models and downloaded the zip file for it. now my card works pretty well... only problem now with the camera is that it likes to eat more and more batteries.. age perhaps???

Deleted Pictures

Your pics should be still there until you take more pics and overwrite them. Just remember not to take any more pics on that card just yet.
It's no problem at all to get them back. As an example, try the below linked freeware program. It's tiny to download (a little over 1meg), and very easy to use. You'll have your pics back in ten minutes after reading this:

Note that if this doesn't work directly with your camera, to then try it using a card reader.

File error

I have seen this problem with generic SD memory cards so it could be a faulty memory stick.  Try to get a replacement.  If you want to try to recover the pictures you have taken, I suggest Zero Assumption Recovery (Google for it). Check to see if it is compatible with your camera before downloading.
