    Hello,
The Sony Trinitron KV-20FV10 or KV-24FV10 fell off the shelf with a great thud- some, but not all, of the cables were still attached and cushened the fall somewhat. The TV was still on with a snowy picture. Cable company reconnected everything. Picture is now bright and clear but has a circular rainbow as far as the color.
Is it repairable or a goner? Any advise?

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Hi, I had a problem with my Sony CRT television.

The faint background lines are vertical flyback lines. Start your diagnosis by turning the brightness and contrast controls to minimum and view the screen in a darkened room. If you can now see a raster with horizontal lines visible then it is likely that the tubes A1 screen voltage is excessive. The screen voltage is usually within the range of 400v to 600v. Adjustment for this is often part of the flyback transformer. Check all high value resistors
in the screen and focus circuitry. Some of these reistors may be
built into the flyback transformer. As the picture gets brighter the beam current increases, this will eventually cause the X ray protection circuits to trigger shuting off the set. A fault in the video drive circuits to the cathodes of the tube will cause similar symptoms but usualy results in a predominance of one colour, ie
bright red, blue or green raster with flyback lines.

I have a 32af41. Green horizontal retrace lines show up on screen then it faint at first then more and more apparent then it flashes green and turns off. I can only turn it back on by unplugging the tv...

These are caused by the ageing of the tube and the final video transistor for the green cathode - the cutout voltage on the final video board is no longer doing its job as the tube heats up so the current passing thru the tube goes up until the X-Ray protection kicks in and cuts the power completely.
Resolder all the components on the video board and try to readjust the cutout voltage - there's a semiadjustable resistor on the video board, right next to the video power transistor - this will give you a few more months of use.

Tv screen is black except for 1 horizontal line of color

The line is there because the vertical deflection unit - the one that spreads that line across the entire screen to form the image - has failed. Replacing it is a job for a professional, or at least an experienced amateur, and the parts will be quite difficult to find for such an old tv .

Green picture with horizontal green lines...

John,

First, Id like to know how old is your unit? Also, the lines indicates in issue with regards to the lifespan of your tube. The dominant green color has something to do with a malfunctioning ray gun of your tube. However, i had encounter a unit that was resolved by simply resoldering the circuitry of same problem.
Why dont you try to resolder the board first.

Response is highly appreciated.

The faint white lines at the top of the screen is the warning that the pump-up capacitor in the vertical output circuit is going bad and the output itself is about to short out. When the TV stops working, the vertical output IC has finally shorted out. Replacing the vertical output IC, the pump-up capacitor and possibly a small value resistor next to the flyback (B+ for the v-out) should bring the set back to life.
