Ice dispenser in door clogged up or frozen

My ice maker works but when I try to get ice from the door dispenser all I get is a lot of noise like ice being stirred around and/or crushed but no ice comes out into the glass.  It seems the ice gets stuck or frozen in the door part of the dispenser.  My icemaker jams with cubes as this person described. It is a Hotpoint Superba KSRS25 side by side model. Frost forms on the ice cube shoot and on the bottom of the ice maker. I frequently dump out all the cubes in the tray and clean out all the cubes in the storage bin and where the auger is. I also remove the frost. However, frost will form again in 12 hours even if the ice maker has been turned off. I do not use the crushed ice option. Thank you for any help I can get!

KitchenAide side by side frost forms on the ice chute in the door and on the bottom of the front of the icemaker around the hole in the bottom of the ice maker bin. Sometimes frost along bottom center of ice maker bin. I suspect that the flap on the ice dispenser is not always closing all the way and allowing warm, moist air up the chute where it turns to frost. When I examine the flap on the chute and work it several times it appears to close tightly. Maybe something else? I am going to try to find out how to remove the ice/water dispenser cover to try to examine more carefully and see if a replacement flapper or spring can be easily and economically replaced.

I have a GE Profile Artica side by side refrigerator. Ice is forming on the shite which dispenses the ice and also on the ice cube storage bin. A repairman was here today and said I needed to replace the entire door on the freezer side of the refrigerator. Has anyone else had this problem and been told to replace the entire door?

Chute door for the ice is always slightly open. On mine it is because it would seem there is a spring missing or broken that should shut the chute flapper. How do I get at this spring.

I have the same problem with my Whirlpool side-by-side with an in-door ice bucket and dispenser.

I live in FL so high humidity is a given, but my ice chute door seems to be closing tightly. Frost is only in the ice chute, so I don't think it's a door gasket leak issue, it's something with/in the ice maker assembly.

My unit is bout 6 months old. We left home for 7 days and when we returned we found that the ice dispenser (in door) no longer worked. The bucket in the door would not release so we scooped out all the cubes. W could then see a frozen mass, in the opening next to the auger. Don't know how to remove this without manually defrosting the entire unit. Temps are 0 on the freezer side and 37 on the fresh food side. I really don't want to lower the fresh food side below this number as we already encounter some items slightly frozen if placed near the back wall.

Can pull out the ice bin. Haven't used it for about a month and ice maker was on. But now it won't dispense but I can't remove the bin either.

I tried shinning a flashlight up the ice chute from outside the freezer and sure enough there was light coming around the corner of the door.

If light can get through, then so can air; so I have decided the problem is the leaky door.

I've ordered a new door and the spring assembly to keep the door closed. We'll see what happens.

Try the light test before you decide there isn't an air leak. I was sure there wasn't a leak, until I tried shiing a light up the chute!

I would contact Hotpoint direct for this one. It sounds like a design fault to me.

What I think may be going on is that the cubes are melting too much, then refreezing lower down.

Set your freezer to -18, and the fridge to +2 and see if that changes things any.

Check seals in that area. Where is the moisture coming from to generate the frosting? - Is the location high in humidity?

The water line could be frozen. Remove the water filter and see if it frozen. Also, see if the water dispenser works with the filter removed.

Hi, The freezer should be "0", the possible clogging you have could be a leaking water valve or an over filling ice maker. I would have the ice maker checked for volume of water dispenser during harvest, should be 5.5 oz. (2/3 cup), if more the 6 oz. the ice maker is bad. If fails to stop filling or leaks/drips, replace the water valve behind the unit.
I hope this helps.

Water dispenser on refrigerator not working but ice maker is making ice

Most likely a frozen line... If you can hear a faint pump noise near filter when you try to dispense wate, that tells you the pump is woking. rIt could be a frozen reservoir(located on fridge side behind vegetable bins) or the line that runs thru freezer door to the dispenser. Use a hair dryer to thaw out reservoir or try to turn off the unit for a few hours. (That did it for me). If it's the line in freezer door, shut off unit, open freeezer door for a few hours and seal off freezer with a towel or cardboard to keep all frozen. If not this, may be a clogged water line from filter or a bad valve.

Ice dispenser not dispensing ice or water

Check the water filter - it should be at the bottom of the fridge - turn it 1/2 turn to the left. After several months of use (less if you use it a lot) the filter can clog.

Ice maker and now water dispenser does not work

Do you get water to the connector at the bottom of the freezer door ? if you do then the water pipe in the door is probably frozen - read new door ! if not then check thw electrical connector at the bottom of the freezer door as they have a habit of corroding.

Ice dispenser in door clogged up or frozen

I see this a lot with people who mainly used crushed ice.  It will leave small pieces of ice behind and add up to a clogged situation.  If you mainly used crushed ice you will need to run full cubes thru every so often to keep the chute clear.  Another cause of this would be the flapper door on the dispenser doesn't close completely and warm air gets in and melts the ice in the bin so it clumps together and won't dispense.  In this case you may need to replace the solenoid that shuts the door and/or the door.  Let me know what you find.
