NO....

It should be admin as the user name

linksys as the password.

You may even find a sticker on the router that tells you that.

Good luck.

Solution 1.

How can I reset the Linksys WRT300N to factory defaults?
Hold the Reset button on the Linksys WRT300N for about 30 seconds.

What is the IP Address, Username and Password to log in to the WRT300N?

I need to change the security key for Linksys router. Using Windows Vista unfortunately.

Try opening your web browser then see if you're able to access http://192.168.1.1 and if your then prompted for a username and password try entering 'admin' for the username and password (unless you changed this at one point). Once you've logged in you should see a 'Wireless' tab or option then you should see a sub-tab for wireless security that you can then use to change the key or view the current key.

I lost the cd to install my wireless router. I also do not know how to hook it up to my modem

You can get the install program from Linksys http://www.linksysbycisco.com/APAC/en/support/WRT300N/download

There are a bunch of settings so I have included the highlights of what you want to address:

Wireless Router

It is usually easiest to run the install wizard, but be sure to be ready to set the items listed below.

Things to set:

Note: Routers are intended to be set by geeks. You have to SAVE EVERY page, or the changes will be lost. A geek knows this (apparently). The router gives no protest...just dumps your changes.

1. Login password (RECORD THIS!!). Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

2. Set a recognizable system ID.

3. Invoke wireless security of at least WEP.

a. Assign your own access code, 10 digit home or cell #. Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is not the security issue.

4. Check that your router is set to broadcast its' presence.

How to configure linksys wrt300n router

Configure the Router 1. Step 1
Open your web browser, type " http://192.168.1.1/ " into the address bar and hit "Enter."
2. Step 2
Use "Admin" as the username in the pop-up box and leave the password blank.
3. Step 3
Connect to the Internet and click on "Internet Setup."
4. Step 4
Select your connection type from the drop-down menu. Choose "DHCP" for cable modems or "PPPoE" for most DSL modems. If you are unsure of these options, check with your ISP.
5. Step 5
Set a service set identifier (SSID) to identify the router and change the password.
6. Step 6
Encrypt your wireless connection using a Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) key. Under the "Wireless Security" option, enter a passphrase and click "Generate." This will generate a password which will need to be used by any client connecting to your router.

I DO NOT HAVE THE CD THAT CAME WITH MY WRT300N V1. DO I NEED DRIVERS. OR WILL IT WORK WITHOUT THE DISC. i BOUGHT IT AT A SECONDHAND STORE. IT WORKS.

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

How to put to secure my linksys wrt300n router?

First, you'll need to log into the Router, do this with a cable.
Second, you will need to enable WPA, if that doesn't work, use WEP. This is the support page for your Router:
http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRT300N

Read the FAQ related to your internet connection type, read through it all. It will have links to setting up the wireless connection and wireless encryption.

This link is probably what you will eventually find yourself, but the above link starts you from the beginning of the process just in case something is not setup right.

You'll need to pick a long hard to guess password, use letters and numbers. Oh, and you'll also need to choose a password for the login of the Router itself. Once you choose your passwords, write them down and keep them with your router. Normally I tape the passwords to my Router. Just be sure not to cover any vent holes.

Linksys wrt 300n

Any settings on the router will be erased and the router’s IP address will become “192.168.1.1” and the password will be “admin.”

Disconnect router from internet, plug in the cat5 cable to router from computer, open browser, if router log in is not displayed, type in where the URL would go the default 192.168.1.1

If you are using dsl make sure to change your router static ip to something else. e.g. 192.168.0.1 so there won't be any conflict.

For user guides and software follow this link

Need the driver for Linksys WRT300N V1 ... can't find the CD

Hi,

The LINKSYS WRT300N is a standalone device, there are no software/driver needed on your PC for the router to work. However, there is an easy Setup Wizard that is in the CD that normally comes with the unit.

Unfortunately, Linksys did not make the specific Setup Wizard (Version 1.3) for the WRT300N available online. However, if you care to try the Setup Wizard for a WRT54GC, it may downloaded from the LINKSYS ftp site here. I used to have a WRT54G and I did make use of the Setup Wizard for that model. I upgraded to WRT300N. The setup wizard for the old WRT54G worked likewise on the new WRT300N.

Alternately, the WRT300N can still be configured without the CD or the Setup Wizard by logging into the Configuration Page (192.168.1.1). Remember to use LAN interface when setting the router (as shown in the connection diagram) and set your PC to an IP Address of 192.168.1.2, Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0; Follow on screen instructions and enter settings/configurations manually.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information. Additionally, if you still prefer to have a copy of the original WRT300N Setup Wizard, pls include your email address that I may send it to you as an attachment.

Good luck and kind regards.
