Canoscan scanner is recognized by my laptop, but i can not get the scanner to copy or scan or do any of its functions.In the control panel, the canoscan event window will not let me choose another option other than "take no action"

The device is underpowered. You need to plug it into a powered USB 2.0 hub and then plug the hub into the laptop. A desktop computer has full voltage for its usb but laptops are portable and need to conserve as much power as they can.

My canoscan LIDE 100 won't make multi copies of my drawings!


The scanner itself does not make copies. You scan and then reprint as many times as you need with a printer. Make sure your image settings are suitable for your printer eg save as a jpeg or pdf file and then reprint that. If you are trying to make your system do a function it is not capable of, you need to change the way you are doing it.

My canoscan fb620u shows device offline.


It your using a newer windows you probably need new software. Try Vue Scan it worked for me on Windows 7 64bit and I have the same scanner. With out dated software it wont recognize the scanner. Hope it helps

My canoscan D1250u2f doesn't even light up. The last time I used it the scan gear didn't find Twain. Now it does nothing. ?????


If it is USB and the device is not recognized in control panel, then there is no power to the system. The cool white fluorescent tubes used in scanners only last approximately one year. Other parts may last about the same time. It's time to change the scanner. It's too costly to change the power unit inside the scanner.

Canon Scan Setup Utility Program needed


The link below is to Canons site. The drivers are for the FB630U but they cover your model as well. For some reason, there are some HP model printer drivers that cause problems with the Copy function of the CanoScan Toolbox. Because of this conflict, when Toolbox Copy function connects with the printer driver, which is what it is doing when you select it from the dropdown. There had been some updates to the Toolbox software that corrected the issue. However, then HP release some new drivers for some models that reinstated the issue.

So the first thing to try would be to download and install the most current version of Toolbox for your scanner model (ver. 4.1.3.5).

If the problem isn't corrected with that, then you won't be able to use the COPY function unless HP updates there printer driver to correct the issue. If you really must have the COPY option, then you might try using a older Toolbox just for that feature. If that is a consideration, then get the Toolbox ver 2.2.3 from the CanoScan N650U download page.

The COPY function from this version should work fine with the HP printers.

The Scanner's "Copy" program does not open


Try updateing the software. goto www.canon.com and download up dated drivers for you model.

Copy function


well you gotta provide the details in scanners configuration where you want the scanner to copy your Documents to .i.e. whether you want it to scan and store it as a image or open it with some Application or you want it to print just assign any one task with proper configuration it will definately work.

This is a compatibility issue between the Copy function of Toolbox and the specific HP printer driver. The only work-around would be to scan your image and save it, then print it from another application. One other possibility would be to get Toolbox version 2.2.x from the N650U scanner download page. This version will be limited in functionality, but COPY button should function as expected.
