Question about Projection Televisions

My Samsung LN40A530 only produces a blank blue screen whenever I try to use an HDMI input source. Audio seem to come through fine but not the video. Other, non-HDMI video inputs work fine. I've tried changing HDMI cables and tried using HDMI output from both my Verizon FIOS STB and my Philips DVD player (which upconverts to HDMI output.) Both the STB and the DVD player work fine on the smaller, cheaper Vizio HDTV.

My Samsung LN40A530 problem is similar. I get an intermittent "Searching for Signal" message when viewing a DVD via anyone one of three HDMI ports. I'm one my second LCD, Samsung is sending a service technician to replace the motherboard and power supply. Hopefully, this will be the solution.

No solution but have the same tv. Same day I bought it after a few hrs tv froze up.Nothing worked on remote. Tv just kept beeping. Unplugged it for a bit then tried again. All it does now is after a few minutes the volume icon comes up and goes all the way down to zero and can`t get it to go back up. Tired of unplugging every few mins. Called samsung and they told me to take it back. They were no help at all.

Similar problem here, except, the HDMI works at first, but the next day when turning the tv on the HDMI signal is lost, then I have to reboot my HDMI devices to get it back.

We are having the same problem. We have 2 DVD players with up-converter to 1080i and 1080p. Both DVD work fine (one Sony and one Samsung) with our Samsung LN-T4053H upstairs, never intermittent.

LN40A530 downstairs is having "Searching for Signal" problem. Took it back to Sears got a new one, problem followed. Something is wrong with this LN40A530. Perhaps firmware update is needed.

blue screen means no video signal, if the source is on hdmi ensure the cable is rca or in simple audio video jacks which u will have to connect in the dvi input of the tv reason is hdmi means high definition interface and transmits by hdcp like the data of an internet meaning its digital platform which the tv can only process thru the dvi inputs or component y,p,b

I have a wd-62525 dlp i have pic and sound through ant. and hdmi but on component and video inputs i only get sound no pic

Hello
It seems to be some fault with its HDMI cable you connect to this device from the source. As you get sound by HDMI, and no picture at all, this indicates the fault with cable itself. There is a cution notice says that " To assure continued FCC compliance, the user must use a shielded video interface cable
with bonded ferrite cores at both ends, when using the PC or HDMI input."
Cheang the cable and check.

You may be able the settings of your directTV box to stop frustrating you. If you help me identify the model you are using, I can research the proper menu choices you will need to choose to select the correct features. There are many different directTV set-top boxes available.

My own home theater setup did the same thing, and my solution was to use component cables from the PVR instead of HDMI cables. It is too bad your blu-ray doesn't allow for this configuration.

My work-around until I realized that using different interconnects fixed the problem, was to turn the TV off and then on again whenever switching from HD to non-HD sources. This fixed my problem, maybe it will fix yours.

I hope that helps.

Good Afternoon, i have a Mitsu Projection TV 1080 HD series and cant seem to find a place to plug in the HDMI line..any suggestions?

You can use an HDMI-to-DVI cable for the TV's DVI input and this would give you video at full HD 1080p resolution but you need to route the audio via standard red & white RCA. It would be better if it has digital audio inputs such as optical or coaxial to get Dolby Digital and other digital formats from your source.

If in the unlikely scenario that it does not have a DVI input (which looks similar to your PC's blue VGA only wider and is white) you can hook it up to your component video-in (which is the red/blue/green RCA inputs). For this you need a cable that has HDMI on one end and red/blue/green for video RCA's +red/white RCA's audio.

This would give you 1080i resolution with stereo audio.

Hope that helps.

Hello

by befault your dvd recorder is transmiting signals via component video, so what you need to do is this connect both cable HDMI and Component or just a video cable then go into setup and then select video out via HDMI your video will go off on the screen and then with TV remote slect input source HDMI on TV and it should work fine.

Thankyou

Model 60PL9200D/37 no sound

What device is connected to TV: cable, sat box, dvd player? What type of cable are you using to connect to the accessory device?

For a red, white, and yellow cable:
I cannot hear sound from the television when connecting to the AV1 input. What do I need to do?
Answer When you connect the accessory device to the AV1 input of the TV using either component video cables (YPbPr) or composite video cable (Yellow), you must connect the audio output from the accessory device to the 'INPUT AV1 AUDIO L R' of the TV using the RCA audio cables (Red and White).
If the connection is good,

Check to ensure that the AV1 audio source from the TV on-screen menu is selected to AV1.
  1. Press the 'MENU' button on the remote control.
  2. Press the cursor up/down to select SETUP and press the cursor right.
  3. Press the cursor up/down to select SOURCE and press the cursor right.
  4. Press the cursor up/down to select ANALOG AUDIO IN and press the cursor right.
  5. Press the cursor up/down to select AV1 and press the 'OK' button.
  6. Press the 'MENU' button to exit the menu.
Make sure that the volume on the TV and on the device is set at an audible level and also that the sound hasn't been muted.

For HDMI,
The picture quality is good but the TV does not produce any sound when connected to an accessory device with an HDMI to HDMI cable.

Answer
  • The TV's behavior is considered to be normal as some accessory devices have an HDMI audio output setting that requires to be turned on when using an HDMI to HDMI connection.
  • Check the on-screen menu of the accessory device to ensure that the HDMI audio output is set to ON.
  • In some cases, you may need to set the digital out audio stream of the accessory device to PCM.
  • For detailed information, please refer to the user manual of the accessory device.
