Check your Processor FAN and Heatsink lock if the heatsink firmly sit tight on your processor, sometimes the heatsink lock is lossen making the processor extremely heat and shutdowns automatically, if its ok, then try replacing your powersupply.

Compaq presario sr1050nx will not power on and the green light just flickers.

I have the same SR1050NX compaq computer with the same startup problem. I suspect this from a code seeded in the system, so performed the system recovery for several times. The problem gradually came back, automatic shutting down with loger interval. I thought the bug is in the recovery system. But the floppy drive in the cmos is disabled without choice to be activated. So, I couldn't perform FDISK at DOS mode. For this computer, I wonder anyone knows how to activate the drive for boot order besides through the setup window.

Thanks very much.

Turn on the computer it goes to window screen and than turn off with out touching anything

so, it automatically shuts down? try turning on your pc and do not wait for it to bbot to windows. instead, immediately tap on F8 key several times as soon as you see that there is power. it should lead you to Windows advanced options menu, highlight disable automatic restart on system failure using your down arrow keys then press enter. it should start normally or if problem still persists, try safe mode instead. it would isolate the issue. if in safemode it will still shutdown automatically then you need to replace your harddrive. if not, then you should just reinstall your operating system to have your system work fine.

My computer is constantly installing Windows updates

They may not be installing properly, choosing to try again every time you turn your computer on.

Be proactive - turn automatic update off ... go to the update site, see what updates want to load, select one or two and do them manually. When you get caught up, turn the auto update back on.

Let me know what hapens.

My machine gets shut down automatic

Hi,
First, Check power cable is connected properly or not.

Second, Right click on My Computer...
Click Properties
Click "Advanced" tab
under "System Failure" see if "automatically restart" is checked. Uncheck it if it is. That usually causes the computer to spontaneously restart.

Third, Scan your whole system for viruses.

Thanks

Pc restarts automatically and unexpectedly

Good Evening Sunnyseber :

Hope that you are wellJ
You did not indicate the type of Operating System.
This document pertains to HP and Compaq computers with Windows Vista. If Windows Vista suddenly starts without warning, or restarts when you try to shut it down, it may be because your operating system is set to automatically restart when certain system errors occur. This feature of the Windows Vista operating system can be disabled. Use the information below to disable the Automatically Restart option. NOTE: In addition to the steps in this article, updating video card drivers is known to resolve many of the problems that can cause the computer to restart. Step 1: Disabling Automatically restart option to view error messages You can prevent the computer from restarting by turning off the Automatically Restart option:
  1. Click Start c00971562.gif .
  2. Right-click Computer , and click Properties
  3. Click Advanced system settings .
  4. Click the Advanced tab and select Settings in the Startup and Recovery section.
  5. Remove the check mark next to Automatically restart under System Failure .
  6. Click OK to close the Startup and Recovery window and click OK , again, and then close the System Properties window.
  7. Restart the computer. NOTE: The computer will no longer restart automatically when a problem occurs. Instead a blue screen appears with more useful information. You can now search for a resolution using the text from the error.

If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

And, remember, always include the type of Operating System and the type of computer you own, when you submit your questions. It simply makes for much faster solutions.

Have a wonderful evening.

Pc restarts when there is hardware problem or serious error while reading and writing to the hard disk - its trying to correct the issue but it cant - you have to remove any newly installed drivers etc also you can disable this option by unchecking automatically restart error under system properties, advanced - startup and recovery - automatically restart

PC automatically shuts down

Hi pank, Take a look at the BIOS setups in these machines. Business HPs and Dells have a setting to allow automatic shutdown and startup based on time. Another explanation is timer software; all of the computers I manage run a software timer that shuts down automatically at night. You might also want to talk to your network administrator since there are lots of management tools that allow remote shutdown of computer. It could be something they?re doing on purpose ?.. There are lots of other possibilities but I would check these out first since they?re more likely. Let us know how things go and please don't forget to rate the posting.
