Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

No power My computer will not power up. Lighting struck near my home. There was a power surge for a few seconds. The green light is on in the back of the computer and I tried turning on and off, reconnecting the cables.Nothing! I had it checked by the IT dept at work and the power source is "dead". Is that expensive to fix?

It depends if your computer is under warranty. it is some kinda expensive to fix since its the power source thats been affected. better bring it immediately to a computer technician or your computer manufacturer if it is still under warranty. also it depends if the computer monitor has been affected also.. if it is only the main computer tower you can just buy a new computer tower and have it set up with your monitor.

JVC LT40A320 turns on but no picture. Replaced Power Supply & Backlight Inverter (TV was hit by a lightning surge, would not do anything at first) now the green light comes on but no picture or sound.

Since your TV was struck by lighting, the power supply is the first board that gets affected by the sudden change in AC power.. The main board is the next board due to the fragile components and the excess of voltage that is supplied to it when the lighting happened. Since you have replaced the power supply already.. I would suggest to replace the main board and that should restore the functionality on your TV.

There was a lighting storm the other day and when the house next door was struck my wireless router stoped connecting to the internet. It had been working fine the past 6 months is there anything I can do?

1. the lighting could have rendered your router functionless. or the cable/dsl line has been fried at the drop.
2. call you ISP and have the line checked.
3. If the router has a "red" light at the power light you have a bad power adapter or the power supply circuit in the router has been fried by the lighting. The only remedy here is to get a new router and a surge protection strip that is above 10,000 joules and guaranteed.
