Question about Belkin Computers & Internet

My laptop has suddenly stopped picking up the wireless signal from our Belkin router so I cannot work online. I have tried everything I know of to try and get it working short of going to the online site as I can not remember the address.

Try disabling your WiFi switch and turn it on again, if this doesn't help, try uninstalling the WiFi Driver and re-install it. Sometimes placing your laptop too far from your Router gives you a weak or sometimes no signal, when solving this problem please make sure you were near enough to your router.

I have belkin g wireless that i have to constantly connect


I have experienced the same issue with belkin routers. First, test your laptop with other wireless connections {e.g. Starbucks, McDonalds, etc..} to see if your laptop's wireless adapter is working okay. If so then it sounds like your Belkin Router needs to be reset to the factory defaults and then your personal wireless network settings re-entered.

If that doesn't work it may have to be replaced.

Please provide feedback...

I'm afraid you can't boost the sgnal from the router without buying a repeater/booster box.

You will get the best wireless performance from your router if it is in the highest position possible in the house - of course it may be impractical to move it but, if you can, then do so.

The only other option is to purchase a booster. I don't know what country you are living in, so I can't give definitive advice. You should try a search on google or ebay for "wireless router booster"

Connected but cant get online


If you connect the computer to the router ,does it work ? If yes
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.

I just bought a belkin n1 wireless router at a thrift store. everything works but the wireless part. its all hardwired to my desktop, but my laptop won't pick up a signal from it.


I would suggest going into the router itself at 192.168.1.1, and reset to the factory settings, or if you are familiar enough with router configuration, make sure your SSID is being broadcasted. Also, make sure you are currently using the up to date firmware.

Also make sure you are using the correct security settings to connect up to the router once it's discovered under the "Available Wireless Networks".

can try to reset your router.?let m know .If u not try to reset then press reset button for 15 seconds .
Reset button is in back side of router.

It comes down to a few things with routers and wireless connections:
1. If you have been dropping the signal over the past few weeks try doing a test on the wireless network connection via the diagnostic tool within the specific wireless connection.
2. You may have gotten a bad update to the wireless card. Try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it.
3. Try deleting the wireless connection for your router and then make 'a new' wireless connection.

Try to manually "Add device to network" by using the wireless setup wizard. Check to see if the Wireless Zero Configuration service is "Running" before trying to add device. Yuo may also want to disable IPv6 in vista tcp/ip properties page.

Belkin products are notorious for breaking down at a high rate. If you wanted to rule out your computer as the culprit, you could install the belking adapter on your laptop (disable the built-in one) and see if it still works. I would also suggest going here:

and typing in your product model # and downloading the latest firmware/software for it. As always, restart your computer.
