Turn off the computer Henry then turn it back on and hold down the alt key and tap F10 and make sure you remove any disks from the CD drive. It would appear that the hard drive is having boot sector issues.
There might be a Desktop Management Interface (DMI) compatibility problem with Windows 7 and the Acer T180 Vista Basic DMI. The Acer support Windows 7 eligible systems link shows all the Acer computers that are fully compatible with windows 7. (Acer T180 is NOT in this list !): http://www.acer.com/windows7upgrade/eligible.html
If it says something along the lines of verifying dmi pool data then you might have a problem with your BIOS ( the setup utility you refer to ). Here is a URL that describes a solution to this problem, it is pretty intense if you don't have at least above average computer skills - http://www.duxcw.com/faq/computer/dmi.html. Let me know if you need any further assistance with this.
check your removable media disk drives and make sure that you don't have like a jump drive or CD-Rom that the computer doesn't like. If that doesn't work, enter the BIOS setup (usually F2, F12, ESC or something like that....check the bottom of the screen.) and find the Boot Order settings & move hard drive to #1
