    Thank you for your help,
Unfortunitly I have installed the software twice previuosly. I just checked the site and there are no drivers required for the camera to work correctly. I'm still at a loss of what to do, bar buying a card reader.

We bought a new MAC last December and I just tried downloading pics from our Fuji yesterday with no luck.  I have tried twice downloading the software from the original disc -- no luck.  I have looked everywhere for a Fuji site that might offer some assistance with no luck.  I do not have a card reader and would rather replace the camera if it comes to that.  I do like my Fuji though.  If someone has any suggestions please let me know.

Communication with computer

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Sounds like you have corrupted or possibly deleted a Fine Pix Viewer driver software file.

Suggest you uninstall and reinstall Fine Pix Viewer.

Before you start you might want to create a backup folder on your C drive and put copies of all your photo files therein. Make sure your camera is not connected to your PC before reinstalling software.

Assuming Windows operating system click : Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add or Remove Software, then scroll to Fine Pix applications. You will probably have three to choose from. Since you don't know where the problem lies suggest you start with Fine Pix Viewer which will probably have a version such as 5.5 (in my computer anyway). Having highlighted this file click on the uninstall button.

Now reinstall from your Fine Pix CD.

Suggest you reboot so new software will recognise your camera when it is connected. With camera connected Windows will probably advise that there is new hardware and it is seeking software. Give it time and Viewer should boot up on your screen.

yes i think u all are having problems in fuji fine pix viewer i think this peace of software is not updated with vista OS so nothing to worry just try alternate source to do this

just connect usb cable supplied with camera and connect ur camera it will show up as a removable disk in my computer open it up and download the pics if u have trouble doing it , first check if ur camera is set to PC = webcam mode and other mode icon means file transfer mode u need to select this mode from menu>setup>usb mode and then go download the pics on pc as described no need for drivers

if u have trouble i can arrange for pics to do that with a diagram
if anything else i can help

Cant upload pix from my fuji s1000fd to pc finepix program.

instead of using the usb plug that the camera has go to best buy, show them your card, and ask for a card reader
what this will do is plug into a usb port, and it will read the data off of the card, completely bypassing the program

This looks like a Mac USB problem. Is there a Mac forum website for you to consult?
