highly unlikely u usually have a duct that goes thru from the freezer to the refrigerator make sure this channel is open and not blocked or u have a fan in the refrigerator one of the 2 if u have a fan it will be behind a panel in the back of the refrigerator if u have a fan it may not be running if its not running check voltage and make sure u r getting power to the fan if so then spin the blade and make sure it spins freely if it does then u have a bad motor replace it its very simple and cheap hope this helps

check relay in compressor. check if compressor is running

CHECK THE FREEZER FAN. IT MAY ALSO HAVE A DEFROST PROBLEM, CHECK TO SEE IF THE BACK WALL OF THE FREEZER IS FROSTED UP.

Please check the model number again, I can't locate that number. The number should be like for example 194.258978 Look at following areas for the model number

• Beneath Or Inside Food Compartment On Cabinet Frame
• On Plate Lower Front Or Rear Of Cabinet
• Beside Compressor Door On Right End
• Near Rear Of Cabinet
• Inside Liner At Top
• I think your refrigerator has a defrost timer and this may be the problem, Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

It could be the defrost thermostat located on the condenser coil on the left side of the fan in the freezer compartment... or else it could be the defrost timer located in the refrigerator behind the dome cover... defrost the freezer and make sure the drain tube is not blocked nor the air passage which blow cold air from freezer to refrigerator compartment below. Water should drip from freezer down hole into tube to an evaporator pan on the top of the compressor near the floor in the back. Make sure the tube is free flowing by pouring some hot water down it before restarting refrigerator. Rarely the defrost heating element shorts, but a simple continuity test will determine if that is o.k. Make sure the refrigerator is uplugged before checking any of these areas... there's 120 volts all about and with water and ice it can cause quite a jolt!

I have a GE side by side refrigerater freezer. I thas the diagnostic center on the freezer door. The de symbol started flashing afew days ago and the refridgerater side isn't getting cold. the fan is on and doen't seem to cut off, If someone could steer me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
