Hissing Sound in Creative SBS 560 5.1 Speakers

I just bought a Creative SBS 560 5.1 speaker set. There is a very harsh hissing sound coming from all the speakers. Also within one minute of starting the speakers, there is a very harsh disturbance which blocks out all the music that is playing and continues for about 5 seconds even after the speakers are switched off. Please advise on the solution.

I have tried both Sound Blaster Live ! Value.as well as the onboard sound with Realtek AC'97 drivers. The same problem persists. The board is an ASUS A7N8X-VM 400 with AMD Athlon XP 2400+. The operating system is Windows XP SP2.

Have you check to see if you have the correct driver for the sound card. I know for fact that when reload some mother board that have a build in sound card that carries AC97 drivers it will install or download the AC97 driver with no problem, and no error and it will not work because the driver needs to be upgrade. You might need to get a new sound card. simple and done. Or go through the trouble to find the correct AC97 driver.

good luck

Its not the drivers, its the control module. They were built ****. I ran into the same issue. It will hum and pop and click. Literally if you take the volume control and tap it a few times against your desk it will go away. But its a temporary fix, it will continue to act up. I know this is an old post but im contacting creative to see if i can order a new control module.

Creative SBS 2.1 370 Speaker - Volume Remote Controller not worki

Hi Arun!

Try to plug your speakers to an iPod or any MP3 Player to check if there's sound. If there is sound, then try plugging it to the green port at the back of your speakers.

If it doesn't have sounds then you need to buy a new speaker system.

Speakers have hissing noise coming out of them

Hook a graphic equalizer between the piano and speakers, and turn down all sliders above 8 kHz. Since the highest note of a piano is 4186 Hz (4.186 kHz), you'll still hear all the notes but cut the hiss. If the hiss is coming from the speaker's power amplifier (in which case the equalizer won't help), turn down the speaker volume and turn up the piano volume. Live instruments generally need some doctoring to sound good through high-quality stereo equipment, as they only produce a limited range of frequencies whereas good speakers reproduce a lot more - including hiss.

Loud hissing through rear (souround sound) speakers

I have the Sony Bravia KDL-46S4100. The high-picthed hiss drives me insane. I have a work around but not a fix. Go into your TV's menu and find BACKLIGHT. Adjust it from 1-9 with the house quiet and find what frequency of the hiss is the least annoying.

Logitech x530 hissing noise

I had the same problem for the longest time with my set of Logitech 540 5.1 speakers. Turns out the solution was pretty simple. All I did was open the Master Volume controller and mute the Microphone. Hissing went to zero. Sound is great now.
