Belkin Easy Transfer Cable: Norwegian Vista connect to English XP

I have old computer with XP in English. I have tried using the East Transfer Cable (Belkin) to move files to the new Vista computer, but I get an error message and the transfer is aborted. Is this because of the different languages? and if so, what do I do?

Yes you can do this. Just install the driver on each box, of course, and the units will be able to communicate.

If both computers are connected to your network, you can easily enable sharing of the drive(s) on your XP computer, then connect to it from the Windows 8 computer and transfer the files over the network.

Purchased a belkin easy transfer cable. When

One of the most common problems is the computer's operating system not recognizing the cable's drivers. This is most common with non-English operating systems. The quickest solution is to download the most recent driver.
If the Easy Transfer Cable isn't working properly, you can try a few things to fix the problem. Make sure that you have installed the Easy Transfer Cable drivers on your old computer with the CD that is included in the cable package. If you did not do this, close Windows Easy Transfer, insert the CD that came with the Easy Transfer Cable into your old computer, and then follow the instructions on the screen. When this is complete, begin the transfer process again.
USB ports might be another cause of the problem. When Windows Easy Transfer asks you to connect your computers with the Easy Transfer Cable, try plugging the cable into other USB ports on your computers.
A more complex problem involves the F5U409 USB PDA Adapter (The USB/Serial Portable Adapter) not installing properly. If the driver is unzipping, but the unit is not working, you need to manually update the drivers. They should all unzip to a file called F5U109 in the C: drive of your computer. Point to this file through the Device Manager to update.

Hope it helps.

Unfortunately, Windows Easy Transfer is not supported on Windows 2000. So I would suggest you to return this cable back and use the manual method of transfer of data from one computer to another. Thanks. Abhishek

Using a belkin easy transfer cable with only one monitor

Hi there. You can use the same monitor for boh the computer (just consider the annoyance of having to go to computer one, do the trick, disconnecting the monitor and connecting it to computer 2 and so on). If, what you want is to extract the files from the old pc because you are going to get rid of it and want to save them, I"d suggest you get a Hard Drive External Enclosure (between 20 and 35 dollars from most places). Connect such hard drive to it and read it via USB interface (or probably E-SATA or Firewire. Depending what do you have in your computer). Hope it helps, good luck.
