2005 BUICK LESABRE TACHOMETER DOES NOT REGISTER WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING. SOMETIMES IT BARELY MOVES, THEN GOES BACK TO 0
SAME CAR HAD SPEEDOMETER QUIT, REPLACED WITH NEW SENSOR, DROVE ABOUT 1300 MILES AND IT QUIT AGAIN. CLEANED THE SENSOR, WORKS OK NOW.

The tachometer in the car is very erratic.Sometimes the needle doesn't move when you start the engine, other times it goes a way highin winter it would go all the way around, sometimes it reads right.

If you have no other problems, It is most likely the electric motor on the IP board. Some cases it is the data chip on the board. I have replaced many of these motors over the years.

While driving my tachometer doesnt go straight to 0 when i stop. It stays around 3/4 close to 1. Is this a concern? 2001 acura cl type s

Hi Eveerei, If you're asking about the tachometer and not the speedo meter, that meter records the engine RPM speed and not the vehicle ground speed The tachometer at idle (when you stop at a traffic light, stop street or any other stop) should record an engine speed of about seven hundred to seven fifty revolutions per minute, at idle. It will increase in relationship to how hard you push your foot on the accelerator pedal. Hope this info helps you. Happy new year and regards John

Got a new tach ,my car doesn't have one, how do I hook it up to a '90 buick 3.3 with electronic ignition? The "instructions" only show how to hook up to standard ignition.

Hello! Your vehicle is equipped with a distributor-less ignition systems; C-31...Does your engine have a "coil pack"? As in two cylinders per coil? The coil pack has a two wire connector at the top which is Ground and +12 volts...At the bottom are 2 connectors...The one on the left is a 4 wire and to its right a 2 wire...the one you are interested in is the 4 wire connector...Reading from left to right...Pin 1=Ground...Pin 2=Reference voltage...Pin 3=6X...
And Pin 4=Tachometer
...Hook the Tachometer wire (probably a green lead) to Pin 4...There is the possibility that the ignition module has a Tachometer input connection...If so use it...If not use Pin 4...

Car: Nissan Maxima SE 1997 tachometer broken

the dash voltage egulator probably went bad. First, check the battery & make sure you have 12 volts, not running. Check it again running & you should see about 14.5 volts. If that's good,I'd replace the guage assembly.

Tachometer is not working

please rate highly if this helps.

Check fuse #37, 10 amp yellow in fuse panel on dash.

The camshaft sensor in the distributor sends the tach signal to the instrument cluster. wire is BU = Blue?
